Hello. :)

All you IT people, my desktop is giving me the blue screen of death, what do I do? It says there's a virus in the computer, and its shutting down to protect it ... and won't turn on even with safe mode. =( I have so much data on saved on that computer, *sigh*.

aww poor thing even i got it once i had back up luckily... hope u do..

anyway quickly write data on to disk then format.. btw i answered ur questions...

*disclaimer: I am not an expert - this is what I do*

Try hard booting your computer and see if you can boot it again. When it boots copy the files and then shut down and then use the restore disks that come with the PC.

If it does not boot, boot with the restore disk. Some restore utilities let you backup data in the process.

For future use purchase an external HD, and backup data there regularly.

Use firefox for browsing. Install AdBlock Plus and Noscripts and run them. Unfortunately, third party vendors on IF do frequently have malaware.

No. I can say with surety she does not. That was just a joke. A lot of times when people crash their PC its due to po*n.
