Folks, Raktima's performance in the last round made me change my opinion about her completely. So far she came to me as so called "nasal" singer with voice that shrills in the upper notes. But her "Piya Bina Piya Bina" and "Odhani, Odh ke Nachu" made me eat my words. She was not nasal at all and her voice did not break in high notes. She sung these 2 songs so well --and reached the higher notes so effortlessly---that I now feel she has rightfully earned the place that she got over Keka in the Agnipariksha round. My choice till last week was Keka.

Raktima's voice is very sharp, clean and definitely has an edge-- an edge does not bite your ear. Plus her pronunciation is very clean. I do not find these specific qualities in the other singers. I think she has a good future. What do you feel?

Actually, so far I havenot expressed my opinion on Girl singers. But when I heard this girl Raktima, I did feel that she was singing effortlessly and reaching higher pitches/notes very easily. Remember, reaching a higher note is pretty difficult for most of the singers.

I have seen a number of members in this forum unfairly calling her 'nasal' repeatedly in each of their posts. These detractors should give her a break.

She does remind me of S. Janaki, renowned singer in south, who also sings effortlessly and is sweet.

Pity that Raktima got out.

She seems to have worked on nasal tone and she has sung well. Even her hum dil de chuke sanam song was very good.

maybe its me but iv always found keka's voice abit harsh at times especially at the start of the songs like she not singing openly like something it pressing against her voice and she trying to break through that barrier. dont know how else to describe it.

I also agree. I am one of those who always quoted her singing very nasal but of late I have found a tremendous improvement in her. But still in spite of having all the good attributes of singing, somehow the overall chemistry leaves something and it is not as pleasing as it should be. I agree with all the good points you all have pointed about her in these posts but something is missing in her singing, can't figure out that!
Beside, I found her as one of those very very down to eart person. She is very modest and one who is learning from her mistakes and eventually that is what makes a person perfect. Her singing is far better than many others but still she behaves very modest. I kind of started liking her singing of late, I am alsoeating my own words..lol!
