Just like there is Lovers day (Valentine), Bhoot day (Halloween), there is special day called Holi day 😛
Tis Holi day is different from other Holidays...because people dont get angry even if u spoil their clothes with color... !! 😳
People have bonfire, they greet each other and put colors on family, friends, & even enemies.
U get a liberty to use color on face, clothes instead of regular books and still people r happy...!! 😳
Its very joyful festival in spring...!!

I know that holi celebrates the arrival of spring flowers and it is a colour festival which normally lasts around 3-5 days. however what i asked you is when exactly is holi? i mean i have lost time of all the festivals here, never celebrated holi in uk but back home in india everyone does it, Processions of floats carrying statues of the gods line the streets.

However what i wanted to know is what date is holi on? any idea? 😊

Everyone i s dedicating songs on holi. I want to dedicate the Story of Holi, holi named after the Hindu Goddess holika, and it originates from this story which i hope you guyz would enjoy and find it useful.

There was once a very cruel king called Hirnakashyah who had a son called Prahlad. Prahlad was very good and always prayed to the god Vishnu, which made his father very angry. The King tried very hard to make his son give up his belief in Vishnu.

So the King ordered his sister Holika to take Prahlad in her arms and for both of them to walk into the burning fire. The plan was that Prahlad would die and Holika would be saved because she was protected by the gods of flames. What the King did not know was that the gods' charm over Holika didn't work for one hour during the day. The hour chosen for lighting the fire just happened to be that very hour. When the flames leapt up, Holika died and Prahlad was saved by Vishnu.

Prahlad was so sorry for Holika that he promised to name a festival after her. So now we have the festival of Holi.

Prahlada subsequently succeeds his father. Several years later when God wanted to punish one of his descendants, Prahlad appealed to God for forgiveness.

Processions of floats carrying statues of the gods line the streets. Its Ganesh chaturthi n not holi, though people use color (gulal) as a mark of celebration.

Holi is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Phalugna or Falguna (Phalgun Purnima)
On d first day people burn bonfire called holika dahan, and second day is real holi, when people play with colors. In some part of India esp. maharashtra, people play on 5th day of full moon (which is called Rang panchmi).

Dont pass on incorrect information if u dont know.

Holika dahan - bonfire is lite every year for the miraculous escape of young Prahlad who was staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu without injuries and without shaking his devotion, when Demoness Holika carried him in the fire.

'Holi' comes from the word 'hola', meaning to offer oblation or prayer to the Almighty as Thanksgiving for good harvest. Holi is celebrated every year to remind people that those who love God shall be saved and they who torture the devotee of God shall be reduced to ashes like the mythical character Holika.
