Happy Republic Day, dedicate a song - Page 6

Those who are not from India or are 2^nd gen NRI, they would ask why republic day is celebrated in form of parade in such a great and grand way on Rajpath, Delhi.

India became independent on 15^th August 1947 but our constitution was adopted on 26^th Jan 1950. In these three years we had C Rajgopalachari as governor general, this post was replaced, after adopting constitution by president of India, we all know Rajendra Prasad was the first president of our country.

Now why celebrate R Day in a grand way: it is believed that whatever our country is today, be it stable democracy, day to day governance, social evolution and development, survival of several vibrant and diverse culture has been because of constitution. So in true sense R day parade is basically wonders of India on display. This parade starts from Raisina Hill near President's palace, marches on Rajpath and goes right up to Red Fort. One doesn't have to be a country diplomat/sr officer to see this. Just stand in front of Red Fort and one can see the parade in full grandeur. This parade also showcases India's military might and the president of India takes the salute.
