But when it comes to mails, people will use either one, based on their preference and ease. For example, Trivandrum is the British name for Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin for Kochi, Alleppey for Allappuzha, Cannanoore for Kannur, Trichur for Thrissur, Calicut for Kozhikode, Palghat for Palakkad, and so on... 😃

oh the king knew abt trivandram n cochin being changed whereas the others he thot they were 10 diff places. oh my so many places have been renamed. well luckily in karnataka its only bengalooru but still v call it bangalore😆😆😆

ye it becomes even more confusing, when both of the names are used by the people, we people like us think they are different places. and the media doesn't informs us properly either they are always covering spicy news. watch aaj tak, most of the times they show the fight between SRK and Amir these days,

I speak my language only over the phone to my folks - I cannot believe it!! 😕

I think you misunderstood my statement.....None of the reasons you mentioned above which made me think you were from southern states.....Akanna sounds a word coming from one of the lanuguages from south....I asked my family member who is Telugu if she was aware of what Akanna meant....Now I don't remember her answer.....
This is from loooooooooooong time back when U and I first interacted in IF-SRGMP section....Hope this helps....Did not mean to offend or upset you....was not the intention....😳

Oh, I think you got carried away with the "anna" part in my name! 😉 😃 It has nothing to do with the "anna" in the South, nor the "akka"... It just happened to be the combination of first few latters and last few letters of my email ID as the names on their own were already taken, so I had to make up one. 😉 😆
