Thanks Khatarnakji. I am surprised that his voice does not seem to grow old.

Thanks a lot for the article on Mehdi Hassan and his famous Ghazals.
Ranjish hi sahi is also one of his landmark Ghazals:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgKDqh2ccuU
This shahenshah of Ghazals is ailing these days and he has stopped singing, but his Ghazals will remain immortal.
India's own Jagjitji may have some grouse against Pakistan not inviting many singers from India, but it must not be forgotten that he holds Mehdi Hassan in high respect, and had sung at a special show in Lahore to raise funds for Mehdi Hassan.
There is also a story that when Mehdi Hassan was travelling by car some robbers intercepted the troupe. When they came to know who was travelling their only demand was to ask Mehdi Saab to sing a few Ghazals for them and then let them go.The story may not be true, but that is how legends live in memory.

A song which all must listen is "Samnay aa kay tujko pukara nahin" (1971) recorded on BBC
This song is great and lovely and needs the magic of a soft and gentle touch.
