SGMP 2009 winner ???

Just saw Sayon Choudhary been given the 'Golden Key' - Jeffrey Iqbal, Shujat Ali, Farid - Jeffrey had to suffer. ALL THREE WERE MILES BETTER THAN SAYON!! (I can guess the real reason for Asha Tai's tears)

The current lot of singers in SGMP is better than those in Star VOI but I'd rather see the latter. Sometimes I feel the non Bengalis at SGMP may just as well pack up and go home.

(BTW I am of Bengali descent too...)

I wrote my prediction in the first program of SRGMP2009 that the winner of SRGMP2009 will be a Bengali Singer. There are about 6 Bengali singers. All of them are not bad so out of six one would be a definite winner. First runner-up will be a Punjabi contestants like Sunvinder. All Pakistani contestants will be voted out before top eight. One Pakistani contestant will go to as far as top 5 or top 6.

You are quite right provided there is Public Voting. If not, a lot of wonders can happen.

Still they will have Public Voting, for TRP reasons. One of the Top 5 will be a lady, but she may not be the Top 3. History repeating itself. Generally most Pakistani singers seem to have problems in the Bollywood "modern" numbers and romantic film songs. Still Pakistani singers will go on to become very successful due to the demand for Sufi songs.

The winner of SRGMP will always be an Adult Bengali Male and lil champs a child Bengali female. Shashi from Bihar was also fantastic. He's out now.

Another thing - and this applies to ALL music shows - has to be decided what is considered the measure of a 'good' singer.

Many of the songs chosen - the new ones with Western musical base are very easy to sing and any singer can crack these songs.

Are these shows targetting popular hindi film music (current style songs most of which just about anyone can sing reasonably well) or good solid all round musical talent including (but not restricted to) a Hindustani classical base?

this is my very first posting on this site, the topic kinda got me going as IS SARE,,,,,,, rigged, by now i think everyone should know that it is, look at what happened in saregama lill champ, when Amir was voted out, week before or maybe couple of episodes before no one because Aamir is not a bengali, nothing againt anyone but please be fair when eliminating future greats, l really admired Poonam's singing last year but eliminated because she was a female.

i think it's becauz bengalis want their musicians to win so much tht they vote so much for them...so bengalis always end up winning.

i hope that you are correct in stating this evon, because if its rigged then no matter how many of non bengalis vote it would not matter because the outcome is already decided by the TV channel.

man last what happen still has me really mad it was Amanat who was souppose to win and not forgetting Tanmay this always happens i dont get why singers who are not bengali never win no matter how much they are told that they are going to win if this happens this year too than i dont know what to say and i dont know if u guys noicted or not but lil champs both years it was a gurl who won and both of them were bengali so this year i will not vote and i want to see what happens

The truth is that none of the winners were undeserving. So why crib?

Sanchita and Abhro both bengalis were best in little champs 2006. Aneek was equally good as raja, amant and Poonam. all 4 were best, and the same discussions would have been generated if raja, amant or poonam won. Aneek was in no way lesss to them in ANY way. and what set him apart, he had a sweet, melting voice-which none of them had. so his voice quality was better than those 3, and technically all were equally strong.Anaimaka techncially the strongest

If the logic is public voting, then winner is NOT pre-determined. how silly. and just because winner is bengali does that mean in VOI winner will always be punjabi and in indian idol winner will always be from darjeeling? Grow up and shed these notions.

And what about benaglis like Rakhtima who goted voted out first in challenge 2005? what about Smita who was discriminated against right from start in little champs?

I can also say that marathis are more deserving, but don't win. nihira was best in challenge 2005, and Rohit was far better than rohanpreet and tanmay to be in fianls. And that Vinit singh-less said about him the betetr. so it seems that Ounjabis are the ones who send a lot of votes, and benaglis win becuase theya re good, but its best to keep out the regional issue

I know judges never supported ishmeet and rohanpreet but theyr eached finals and even won(ishmeet) so it is all about votes, and please be mature enough to accept this.

Really??? did Aditi Paul win in Indian idol 1? Did Monali Thakur win in indian idol 2? did Amit, Emon or Puja win in indian idol 3? Did Anwesha or geetashri win in chote ustaad? did Abhro win in little champs? and they were all the best- judges supported them the most, but in public voting they could not suffice.
