Last SRGMP 07 Aneek was the perfect singer in that he could handle both classical and bollywood numbers, voice quality was also very good. He put tremendous efforts too and had great feel. Wonder if someone can do more this time round. Sadly the Rock Gharana could make an earlier exit compared to the rest.
Yes we are looking for the Aneeks, Amanats and the Rajas.
Currently Naina Saxena and Pratibha are in the forefront to be Champions.
Sayon could be the one.

Compare the song Tum mile dil khiley sung by both Aneek and Vinit. Both sung these very well. Aneek sang it before being furher polished at SRGMP 07, where he improved a lot. Sayon has to reach the same standard. Aneek http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddgeKnv3NFQ Vinit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OKGafiMnUY&feature=related

I don't think ONLY Aneek was the perfect singer.I think Amaanat had the quality of a perfect singer too as in he sang classical, bollywood, ghazal everything so well but somehow Aneek was a whole package as in he entertained people alongwith his singing. But for me the best performance of Last year SRGMP was by Amaanat-Hungama hai kyun barpa.like one of the jusges told him that he forgot Amaanat was singing in a contest and thought he came to watch a concert.

^^^ Right... Amanat was a better singer than Aneek.. Just watch out, we have many coming up in the line.. The Jaipur guy, Shashi, the two Pakistani guys, one who was the winner of Middle east and other who belongs to a big gharana... And we have few girls even who sing well... Aneek, Amanat best performances came in top 14, so we need to just hold on and chk it out before comparing...

But we do have some flawless performances here also...

In my opinion Aneek deserves the title over Amanat because he was more suited to the aim of SRGMP mainstream playback singing. Amanat's voice quality is perfection when it comes to ghazal singing but Aneek had the edge over all the other genres. Amanat is the perfect ghazal and classical singer. But Aneek is the perfect playback singer (basically SRGMP singer).

I think among the females Naina is the only one that comes close to perfection.

In boys Sashi might be perfection in the future.

Yes Aneek seems the perfect all rounded singer and very versatile. His voice is also fresh and soothing but some may find it too soft for the Macho image of the Bollywood 6 packers. This can be overcome with a little software adjustment. But in cutting his own album and songs Aneek would do very well. The Kolkatta singers including Survinder Singh will challenge his position. I expect them to only get better as contest progresses.
I very much like Amanat too, the perfect Gazal singer who has a very likeable personality. But this year we have Faraz Butt, Fareed and other Pakistani singers who will also challenge what Amanat achieved.
Still I doubt anyone can come close to the vibrancy of Mussarat where NFAK and similar numbers are concerned. I prefer a singer to be very good in one genre rather than a Jack of all Trades, mastering nothing.

I have great hopes for Sayon and Survinder. Basically the Kolkatta singers and the Punjabi singers seem more versatile overall. Currently their standard is still quite far from Aneek.
My favourite Sufi singer Faraz Butt is in a bit of problem. Hope he comes back roaring .
Bollywood is rocking mainly on Punjabi Sufi mix songs.
