Casanova turns into nice guy
In long running soaps replacements and new entries are as common as changing tracks and makeovers. But Amit Sareen of Kyunki and Kkusum fame has replaced Gaurav Chanana in Rishton Ki Dor when the daily has not even completed 50 episodes. Reason? "I really don't know," is Amit's diplomatic answer.
Apparently Gaurav was not too happy with the way hischaracter was shaping up. Moreover, with the story going in for some major changes in the coming weeks Gaurav apparently was getting a raw deal. But Amit feigns ignorance, "I am not aware of the changes and the reason for Gaurav quitting the show. I think the serial will stick to the original Spanish soap but in a daily one can't say anything. Changes are bound to happen to boost TRPs."
In any case, Amit is treating Rishton Ki Dor as a completely new assignment. "It's a new show for me. It doesn't matter to me that I have replaced somebody," he defends. What he liked about the role is that it's an interesting lead character. "Rahul is a Casanova. He moves from one girl to another but realises his mistake when he finds true love. And when you find true love nothing else really matters because love can transform a person completely. Right now he is at the crossroads of his life and trying to pick up the threads by undoing his past mistakes."
But it's not going to be an easy job. Bad habits die very hard. And in a daily they take much longer to die as the past is revisited one or the other way. "Well, the twists and turns are part of this love story. But the fact is despite being a Casanova Rahul falls in love with Tejaswini and tries to woo her by getting rid of his past," says Amit who recently walked out of Kyunki before the show went in for a generation leap two months ago.
"Mihir and Tulsi's son Sahil was a very important character in the serial. But I didn't want to be part of the generation leap because I didn't want to play an older character. I am too young to play a 50-year-old guy." The actor who started his career five years ago with shows like Aankhen and Mission Fateh got his major break in Balaji's Kkusum where he played Kumud's love interest.
"It was one of the best characters I have played. Kshitij was an ideal son, brother and husband. A family loving person, he was a principled guy," says the actor whose career graph is gradually going up and up. "So far so good and I am looking forward to doing some real good work on television."
