SOCCERVOICES - The Cup is still half-full -Anuj saxena
W ith soccer-favourites Brazil out of the World Cup and David Beckham not bending the ball enough, we spoke to a few TV stars about who they were more disappointed to see lose and what will keep their interest going in what's left of the tournament?
Harsh Chaya No individual team is bigger than the world cup tournament itself, so the interest will be very much there till the end.
England was playing a pretty boring game and the Brazilian 'heroes' turned out to be just gas balloons. In fact Zidane was much better than both the 'Ronalds' put together! Anyway it's the unpredictability, surprises and upsets that makes it paisa vasool! Mukul Dev "Brazil, Argentina and England losing was definitely a dampener. I wanted Brazil to win or at least be in the finals. Yes, it won't be the same now." Mini Mathur "I will keep watching it for the sheer love of the sport. Brazil's loss was more disappointing because they are a better team. I was very happy though to see Portugal defeat England be cause England was playing lazy. I always side with the underdogs who fight hard against all odds.
Cyrus Sahukar "Yes it was definitely disappointing to see Brazil and England lose but I think Portugal will keep me going, they have hunger left." Jaaved Jaffrey "Football keeps me going and not just any one or two teams. It's been a mixed bag of some great matches and some not so great games." Gauri Pradhan "I think nobody expected the current situation. I enjoyed watching Brazil and France and kept cheering France because I guess they were playing too well. Now since the best teams are out the exciting thing is going to be the final match." Tarun Khanna "I am a huge fan of Zidane so I am rooting for France. It was disappointing to see Brazil crash but I'm still hooked to the game." Purbi Joshi "I felt England's loss because I like Rooney. Christiano Ronaldo from Portugal will keep me going." Anuj Saxena "I was disappointed to see Brazil losing. Will still watch the semis and the final matches because life goes on." Gurdeep Kohli "It was very disappointing to see England losing. But it will be a treat to watch Germany play in their homeland." Shekhar Suman "To see Germany in the finals will keep me going. But England lost and Beckham bowed out of captaincy. That's definitely sad!"
