Sony's horrible promotion issues

I think this has been going on for a while with many shows on Sony now.....there is a HUGE problem with the promotion department of this channel.....do they not realize it?? They might promote a show initially....but once it's on air, the promotion slows down drastically.....HARDLY any repeats are aired of the show in question and within 5-6 months, the show goes off air.....does Sony SERIOUSLY expect to EVER manage to build up a viewership like this??😕😕......ALL they promote is CID.....In the U.S., their promos are usually two WEEKS behind what is ACTUALLY happening in the episode of show😕😆.....Since the past two weeks, they haven't aired any new R.com promos....kept on repeating the old one from when Isha went out with Arjun and Rohan with Sukrit....this week was a crucial one cuz the timings changed....did they promote that properly?? Nope.....they honestly don't seem to give a damn once they've got a show on air......how on earth can they expect to achieve success on the channel like this?? Why do they bother bringing a show on board when they don't know how to give it it's due once it's on air?? Currently they are endlessly airing promos of their new show God-bharaai....but following the standard pattern, I'm sure those promos will taper off within a month of the show starting.

I felt bad when Bhaskar Bharti went off air as well cuz even though the show had gone a bit off track with a weird family drama track, it still had potential.....but this channel hardly seemed to care and just shut it.....and now they are doing the same to Rishta.com *sigh*.....

If Sony doesn't know the worth of an amazing show, I'd rather Rishta.com moves to another channel but keeps on running....can YRF not start it's own television channel?? This partnership with Sony seems to be of no benefit given Sony's almost non-existent promotional strategy.....which every other channel is an expert on.....if nothing, can't they WATCH and learn???

I just felt like ranting *sigh*

Sony doesn't promote any but new shows except for CID. Who can blame the channel for falling behind star, colors and zee? I personally don't think much of star shows, but they promote their shows well.

@viewobs: Exactly.....I personally don't think much of star plus/one shows right now either yet the channel's aggressive promotion strategies ensure that even those shows manage to get decent viewerships.....Sony never promotes it's shows other than CID properly and then it sits there lamenting over lack of TRPs and then trying to put forth the reasoning that they have no choice but to axe a show :S.....utterly ridiculous.

well since I dont live in India, I watch this show on YT ... and it hurt me SO much when I came to kno its going off air !! DAMN IT !! this was one show I was loving soo much after a LONG LONG time ..

but I dont understand, what exactly IS the problem ?? I mean, are the viewers not enjoying it much .. in which case the TRPs are low or what ?? like u said, the promotional strategies arent good ??

because I had read the post of shruti seth in here that they hav written almost the entire script of R.com beforehand and hence it shudnt b an issue to them...taking a break or something .. they are ready wit their work which is BRILLIANT .... then what really IS a problem ??

I wish I cud do something and participate actively in the actions taken to avoid R.com going off air .. have already signed the petition n all .. but sadly I dont fall into the category of viewers due to which the TRPs will increase because I watch it on the net .. or else I wud hav taken every effort to increase the TRPs from my side 😆

Hey! The show is not going off-air. Don't worry about that. It's just that there r very lil chances of a second season of Rishta.com. And we fans are demanding a second season as well. The first season of Rishta will go on till July. It's NOT going off-air.

*Reserved* Will post my comments on the topic later. 😃

I agree with what you said Anu...Sony is way behind other channels' aggressive promotional strategies which make even a strictly average show garner enough trps .And as far I remember, they've never promoted even some of their successful shows in the past that well like JJKN...but now times have changed and with so many channels on air you've got to seek and hold viewer's attention by some means or the other (like you said, by regularly airing promos and repeat telecasts etc). And this such a basic flaw,I dunno how can it be overlooked so easily :S. I guess, the channel needs a major revamp as far as their marketing strategies are concerned otherwise it will soon go down the drain.

@mads: The show won't be renewed for another season after this one ends in July....that is what I'm feeling bad about....the rest of the YRF shows will likely be renewed it seems....only R.com is being given this treatment......such a nice show and we only get one season of 26 epis, that's it?😕

Oh they never promoted JJKN much either?? Wow, they really don't have any idea about the importance of promotion these days then, do they?? And then they wonder why they are hardly a blip on the TRP radar?? They do indeed need to seek and hold the attention of the viewers....but they don't seem to get that at all.....it's really surprising that they can't see that....don't they get even a clue from the promotional strategies of the channels around them?? Or the promotion of frankly ANYTHING these days....everyone's aggressive about promotion to garner attention....and especially shows like this....which are so different from the usual run of the mill stuff on TV....they need to be promoted even MORE conscientiously! Does it really require that much extra effort to promote the shows of your OWN channel?😕......R.com is such a breath of fresh air....after a long time, there is a show on Indian TV that I look forward to every week.....The cases intrigue me, the characters, what new antics they'll show....everything....and thanks to Sony's inability to promote a show properly, all this will end in July? :((

LOL I know Anu ...nowadays toh EVERYTHING is promoted well...I dunno yeh log kis duniya mein hain...:S...and you are so right, its the new genre of shows like R.com that need much more promotion because of the difference in content they offer ...oh well.Sony will lose a good opportunity to bring quality and diversity to their shows, something different than the usual "thriller" variety of shows for which the channel is otherwise known for.Lets see what happens :(

hi, firstly i absolutely agree with you, even here in Australia, we seem to always get ads relating to CID and all the stupid serials that no one seems to care about, sorry for the viewers of the serials such as Sukh By Chance and all, but as an ardent viewer of rishta.com, i find it highly irritating that we never seem to get any new promos and when the crucial time change promo aired, it was like a few hours till the actual episode was to air, its simply not fair, i agree, that we may or may not watch Star or Colors or any other channel, but they really work wonders with their aggressive marketing strategies.. and also i wish to god, that Rishta.com gets the fair go and given a second season as well!
