Ankur Nayyar
TV actor
"Looks are very important. Half the battle is won, if you are really presentable."
Jogi > Hi, how did you become actor? Was it a conscious decision?
Ankur Nayyar > It was kind of a conscious decision. I started off with modelling by winning Gladrags North India - 2000. And then shifted to Mumbai, and circulated my pictures and got calls for auditions. Luckily, got the roles I auditioned for.
Clod > You are playing a negative character as "Pran" in Yehi Toh Hai Woh . Do you like doing negative roles more?
Ankur Nayyar > It's nothing like that. As an actor, I need to have wide variety of roles, otherwise it gets boring and mundane.
Manju > Did you come in as a replacement for someone as "Pran"? If yes, then how does it feel to replace someone in a serial? Do viewers accept you?
Ankur Nayyar > Yes, I did come as a replacement. I think, people have accepted me really well and fast. So, I am thankful to my audience. Replacing someone is not a big deal. It's an on going process; every second day it happens.
Budha > Have you been mobbed ever? Any experience to relate here?
Ankur Nayyar > I was mobbed once in Punjab. I went to pick up my sister from school, and all those people (around) came rushing towards me. I just jumped into the car (to save myself). But it was a good experience.
Nene > What are you like in real life? Anything like "Pran" or "Shekhar?" Which one out of the two is your personal favourite?
Ankur Nayyar > I am just a boy-next-door, who is sometimes negative and sometimes positive, but lives life with a positive attitude. I would say, I am the right blend of both, "Pran" and "Shekhar."
Rosh > Where have you done your education from?
Ankur Nayyar > I was in Punjab till the 12 th (Higher Secondary School) and then I did my economics honours from Delhi university.
Loli > What brought you into modelling?
Ankur Nayyar > I just sent my pictures for the Gladrags Contest and got selected. And also, luckily won the North India regional round in the contest. Thereafter, I tried my hands in this field; that's what brought me into modelling.
Rosh > I want to know why the actress who did Jia's role earlier had to be changed?
Ankur Nayyar > Because she was to get married. That's the reason she had to quit the job.
Loli > I have heard that you have done three films. When are they releasing?
Ankur Nayyar > Yes, I have done three movies, but let's see when they release.
Majli > Are you doing films? You look like a hero, but do you think that you can make an impact in films when there are others like Tuusshar, Shahid occupying the slot?
Ankur Nayyar > Right now, I am not shooting for any films. It depends how well the audiences accept me. And as far as my effort goes, I am trying my best to strengthen my strong points and work on my weaknesses.
Loli > Can I have your email address please? Do you have a girl friend? Is she from the modelling or the acting field?
Ankur Nayyar > My email id is ankurvnayyar@gmail.com . I don't have a girl friend at the moment.
Shruti > Ankur, which films have you signed now? Can you name them?
Ankur Nayyar > Right now I haven't got any powering scripts to make me think of switching from serials to films. So, as of now, just I am concentrating on television serials.
Loli > Don't you think that you made a mistake by leaving one of the most popular show Kasauti ........ and the production house, Balaji Telefilms, which brought you recognition? Why did you quit the serials?
Ankur Nayyar > I quit the serial because I was doing another serial called Kashmir for which we had to go on a long outdoor schedule. I am not on bad terms with Balaji, so may be, and in the near future, something might come about. I don't think I made a mistake.
Kali > What's the story of "Shekhar"? Is he in love with "Jiya" in the serial - Reth ?
Ankur Nayyar > Yes, he is madly in love with "Jiya" to the extent that he can't see anything beyond her.
Loli > How much importance do you give to your looks?
Ankur Nayyar > I think looks are really important. Half the battle is won, if you are really presentable.
Rosh > I always wished to meet you one day. I often pray to God for the same. I 'm glad that you are doing films nowadays.
Ankur Nayyar > That is so nice of you. Hopefully, we will meet up soon. Right now, I am not doing any films.
Kali > But isn't "Shekhar" married to someone else? Will he get "Jiya" finally? Or, will she marry someone else?
Ankur Nayyar > Yes, "Shekhar" is married to someone else. Even the writer doesn't know what's going to happen, after the next schedule.
Dreams > Why is the serial called Reth ?
Ankur Nayyar > The serial is called Reth because like Reth (sand) life cannot be held tightly even if you have the best grip on it. Life just slips out of the hand and it's only in the end that you realise it has gone.
Mili > Your dream date? Do you have any crush on anyone? Describe your dream girl...
Ankur Nayyar > Kate Winslet would be my dream date. I don't have a crush on anyone. My dream girl would be somebody who loves me the most in this world and who I can love the same way.
Jamboree > Have you received offers for any other serials?
Ankur Nayyar > Yes, I have. But right now, I am doing two shows on air so there is not much time for anything else.
Loli > Would you mind doing steamy scenes on screen?
Ankur Nayyar > It all depends on the need of the script.
Rosh > To tell you frankly, I tell my mom that I want a guy just like you. I hope you will shine in the coming years. I will pray to God for that. I wish posters of yours were available in the market. It would been very good for me..
Ankur Nayyar > Thanks a lot. And I toos wish God listens to you very soon.
Rania > Hi. You really look cool. Why did you leave the soap - Kasauti Zindagi Kay?
Ankur Nayyar > Thanks. I left Kasauti..., as I had to go outdoors for the shooting of the serial called Kashmir .
Kkarishma > If you hadn't been an actor, what would you have been? And how did you get into acting?
Ankur Nayyar > Probably a finance minister or a commercial pilot. I won the Gladrags North India in 2000 and thought of visiting Mumbai to give acting a try, and here I am.
Loli > Which actor are you most comfortable working with?
Ankur Nayyar > All my co-stars have been really good. So I can't pin point any one single actor.
Mohini > Did ur participation in pageant help in your career?
Ankur Nayyar > Yes it did. It gave me confidence to try in this industry.
Shekhar-rocks > You are a great actor! Are you anything like "Shekhar" in real life?
Ankur Nayyar > Thanks. I am a bit like "Shekhar", in the sense that I can sacrifice anything for my family and loved ones. And I do think of my loved ones and family, before I think of myself.
