Part 16 (a)
Kabir and Ananya got busy with work over the next one month. Kabir was busy traveling to conduct research for his book and Ananya was busy with KKN's first expansion to Sri Lanka.
Kabir visited the KKN office one day to surprise Ananya. She was busy in a meeting and so he decided to wait in her cabin. Ronnie dropped in to say hello.
Ronnie: Your wife has become famous as a female hitler. What a tough taskmaster she is! But very caring and protecitive of her team.
I wonder where she gets these traits from.
Ronnie winked at Kabir who began laughing.
Ronnie: Do you miss being Editor?
Kabir: Sometimes yes. But most of the times no. Writing was always my first love and getting paid to write and travel is a dream come true.
Ronnie: Kabir.. I don't mean to intrude.. but is everything ok?
Kabir sat up.
Kabir: Of course. Why do you ask?
Ronnie: Ananya doesn't eat much. And the other day I caught her crying in her cabin and when I asked her what happened she told me she just felt like crying.
Kabir: Hmm.. She has been having these crazy mood swings. I think she is taking time to adjust. I'll talk to her.
"Talk to whom?"
Ananya interrupted them
Ananya: my husband and my best friend sitting in my cabin and gossiping abut me. How lovely.
She came and gave a peck on Kabir's cheeks.
Ronnie: I better run. Kabir you handle her.
Kabir: We were just discussing how awesome you are. Now come and have lunch with me. I brought your favorite chinese.
Kabir began taking the chinese out but ANanya asked him to stop.
Ananya: Kabir. STOP. That makes me feel queasy. Please I don't want to eat anything.
Kabir: Ananya are you ok?
before she could reply, his phone rang.
Kabir: Wow! That's great. Don't panic. We'll be there.
He kept the phone down and turned to Ananya
Kabir: Tarini has gone into labor. That was Siddharth. Our hotshot lawyer was so nervous.
Ananya: Let's go!
Kabir and Ananya went to the hospital. Sidharth and Anurag both were a bundle of nerves and Kaya had their hands full managing them.
Kabir put his hands on Sidharth's shoulder
Kabir: Sidharth this nervousness,, this wait will all be worth it. You are going to become a father very soon. that'll be the best feeling in the world. Nothing will ever match up to that.
Half an hour later the doctor came to announce that Tarini had delivered a beatiful baby girl.
Sidharth first went in to meet his "two angels" He was followed by Anurag, Kabir and Ananya.
Kabir: Sidharth you are one lucky guy! A stunning wife like Tarini. And now you have the most beautiful baby girl in the world. Right Ananya?
Ananya: Yes she's an absolute angel.
Kabir and Ananya went home. At night Kabir put his hands around Ananya and she pushed him away.
Kabir: WHat happened aNanya?
Ananya: Your life is incomplete right?
Kabir: What?
Ananya: You told Sidharth that nothing matches up to being a father. So of course you feel like there's something missing in your life.
Kabir: What is wrong with you Ananya? Why are you distorting my words? And why are you behaving so erratically these days?
Ananya: So now I am crazy?
Kabir: ANanya stop being so sensitive and touchy.
Ananya: I don't want to talk to you!
Kabir was struggling to understad Ananya's behavior. Two weeks later it was the naming ceremeony of Tarini and Sidharth's daughter.
Tarini: Ananya you have been sending gifts every day!That's so sweet of you. Kuhu (her baby) loves the toys you have been sending her.
Ananya: Today I have brought something special for kuhu. Kuhu baby I am sure you'll love this when you grow up.
Ananya got up and gave Tarini a beautiful Diamond Set.
Ananya: This is for Kuhu when she grows up!
Tarini: Ananya I really can't accept this. It's too precious. I can't accept it.
Ananya: Thanks for making me realize that at the end of the day we are outsiders. Fine.. I am going...
Kabir: Ananya!
Ananya ran out.
Tarini turned to Kabir
Tarini: I had no intention of hurting her. You realize it's not possible for me to accept such an expensive gift.
Kabir: I understand and I am sorry on Ananya's behalf. I don't know whats gotten into her? She has been behaving very erratically over the last few weeks.
Ananya had already driven off by the time Kabir reached the compound. By the time he took a cab and got home he found Ananya in bed sleeping. She looked tired and exhausted.
He tried talking to her next morning but she refused to talk and went to work.
Kabir was working when he received a call from Ronnie.
Ronnie: Kabir Ananya was running a meeting and she suddenly fainted. We are taking her to the city hospital.
The doctor told kabir that they wanted to perform some tests. Ananya was discharged in a couple of hours.
Ananya: Kabir I don't know whats wrong with me. I feel so emotionally charged all the time. I don't feel like eating. I feel tired and exhausted.
Kabir: Whatever it is we'll handle it together! We are an invincible team.
He kissed her and hugged her and made sure that she slept properly.
Next morning they visited the general physician.
Dr: Just a minute. I have called the specialist.
Both Kabir and Ananya became tense.
Next moment Dr Shah entered. Kabir and Ananya were shocked. Dr. Shah had been their gynaec all those years ago.
Ananya: But Dr. Shah is a gynaec.
Dr Shah: And you'll be visiting me very often going forward. Ananya given your history we wanted to confirm things before telling you.
Kabir: Telling us what? You are scaring us!
Dr. Shah: There's nothing to be scared. Ananya and Kabir congratulations! Ananya is pregnant. In fact she is already 15 weeks along.
