Two of the most popular serials on TV came to an end last week. Rangrasiya on Colors TV andSaraswathichandra on StarPlus had a brilliant cast, best production houses and prime time slots. But for reasons best known to the channels, the serials " especially the last few episodes " have been rushed before bringing them to a close.
Rangrasiya , produced by Tequila Shots Production, was initially the love story of a village belle Parvati and a Border Suraksha Dal officer Rudra Pratap Ranawat, brilliantly portrayed by actors Sanaya Irani and Ashish Sharma. With stunning locales, a gripping storyline and a sizzling chemistry between Ashish and Sanaya, one thought everything was going well for the serial, till creatives decided to kill the character of Paro and introduce another female lead (this time a modern, bubbly U.S.-returned girl), again played by Sanaya. Despite a large fan following, the serial ended giving way to Big Boss - Season 8 .
On the other hand Saraswatichandra , originally produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was based on the Gujarati novel of the same name by Govardhanram Tripathi. Gautam Rode played the title role, while Jennifer Winget played Kumud the female lead. The pair became a hit with viewers. Owing to TRPs, the new producers of the show changed the storyline. Now with the reports of Gautam making a Bollywood entry, the makers, instead of replacing him, chose to end the serial, on a happy note.
