Why 108 is significant

The mention of 108 by Paro piqued my interest. Here is what I found about its significance in Eastern Culture from the web.

Could not verify the sources but here it is

Rudraksha Mala used for Japa has 108 beads

There are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet. Each has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti. 54 times 2 is 108.

In some schools of Hinduism it is believed that there are 108 feelings.

The powerful Sri Chakra yantra intersects in 54 points each with a masculine and feminine quality, totalling to 108.

In Indian astrology we have 12 houses and 9 planets. 12 times 9 equals to 108.

The famous saint Bharata wrote "The Natya Shastra" which has 108 karanas (Movement of hand and feet).

There are 54 letters in Sanskrit each can be mentioned as masculine (Shiva) and feminine (Shakti) aspect, totalling to 108.

There are 108 Puranas and 108 Upanishads.

Hi JJKKL,

Well can I just say, you have pretty much made the entire hindu wale baisas on this forum, to go hide their faces, sharam ke maare!! (Sorry baisas, I am sure not ALL of us were aware of ALL the facts that have been mentioned, ek-aad toh chuut gaya hoga!!)

Really, that is quite some effort. 👏👏

And yes the western people seem to have more interest as far as the Indian culture, beliefs, religion are concerned and what mind-blowing capablity you have of narrowing down the symbolisms.

My guess, is the first one, since they both own a Rudraksh, maybe some kind of connection, being she is Bholenath's true devotee and his name is Rudra, who again she worships, as a wife.

Vaise dekha jaaye, all your choices are bang on, It's tough to choose one give it any kind of justification, all of them fit the bill, perfectly.

There are many more things associated with 108. But I liked the above.

From the maths angle it is $1^1 \cdot 2^2 \cdot 3^3$ .

Your welcome. Ha ha, yup google nahi toh bachon ka project nahi. In the current scenario,

Google = Padhai/Information. Gone are the days, when Wikipedia used to rule this domain or the Dadi's & Nani's explaining the same to their grandkids.

What I truly am intrigued is your methodical way of addressing the issue, and carefully analysing the context and putting all of this together.

I think after all this sincere mehnat, you are allowed to sit back and relax and watch out and look forward to all the other baisas on what they have to add/deduce.

Oh wow, yes, that is pretty interesting, love the mathematical angle. Hope this is not the number of episodes we have to wait for the big C. (Something I learnt and came across on this forum!!)

Wouldn't it be great if NapSa or BugSa and many others came back with their interpretations of 108 ? That will be great. Hope it happens

Big C ? Nah it will happen much before 108 episodes. I am sure about that. Don't ask me why
