Everyone has covered all the points so well. I have nothing further to add but just say I agree. A central gripping plot/theme is missing. When RR started the theme of the show was about terrorism, smuggling, action, megalomanic villain, mysterious hero those were the things that attracted me to the show and a lot of us. Now the terrorism theme is lost, definitely no action anymore, great thakur villain is gone, and rudra's mystery is sort of slipping away but given all that the show is still good WHY do you ask because of the leads, THEY ARE FABULOUS. But unfortunately that is not enough.
Right now you can give plenty of excuses, TRP aunties don't get smuggling and action they want to see kitchen politics, it is IPL season, ashish in JDJ good for him we wish him all the best, the actor and actress who play thakur and thakurain didn't seem like they want to be part of RR going by the rumours. So what can the creatives do they are stuck they want to make TRP aunties happy but how they have to compromise on the original concept, but it is not the best time with cricket and JDJ so obviously they have to hit the breaks, also their numero uno villain might or might not want to come back and even if he does how do you fit him to the theme of the story that can satisfy TRPs and the actor and be honest with their vision of RR. It is very challenging I can see all this confusion has resulted in this current idiotic track with Laila. Laila we see right now is not the Laila they started with the first major flaw I see in RR, not just story wise but acting wise as well it is horrible.
The heart of the show is Rudra and Paro but the tracks have to drive their story right now they are driving the story. That is not sustainable because for how long will she trip and fall and how many times can he catch her. Rudra and Paro can set the screen on fire they have so much gas in the tank that Paro can fall a million times and we can watch Rudra catch her a billion times and not get bored. Buttt the big but is if that is all I wanted to see I would watch it online and fast forward to their romance only, imagine the TV audience who would be bored because there is no story how patiently would they wait to see 5 mins of romance when rest is crap odds are they won't wait for the romance just turn the TV off or switch the channel. GAME OVER.
