A face , a persona , an aura that screams LOOK AT ME when she walks into a frame. The kind of brand that Ekta Kapoor created - where obsessed women wreak havoc in lives of their lovers and their ladyloves. The faces, the aura, the dialogues, the 'adaa' and 'andaaz' makes you hate them with passion and that is their victory. You can pick up the best and worst EK soap and yet the negative lead rocks - perfect casting and perfect characterization.

Laila and Ankita have no allure , aura, persona or presence as the 'other woman' or a 'vamp'. Ankita is your girl next door with a cute face. She is not the stuff a 'temptress' is made of and she never was.

Antagonist has to have an aura which make you love to hate them.

RR is a good story and has a great cast ensemble but characters like Sunehri and Laila have not worked from day 1.

If CVs showed that she doesnot know that and while staying here discovers the change in Rudra and feel he never loved her, tries to be possesive and later realise that Rudra was never hers, then it would have been a better track.

But since Ankita wanted to leave the show as she was not being used, her tracked is forced i guess. like Tarun khanna left RR. PH and CVs are using Ankita/Laila before she moves out.

Since CVs have already brought Laila back, i guess by the time they end this track they should show that paro comes to know the real relationship between Rudra and Laila and not an informer who loves her husband. She should know it was two ways and lasted for 8 yrs and she should not be mahaan. Paro should know and also feel bad about it. I don't mind if she thinks for sometime that Rudra married her to save his job and hated her. They should also show Rudra seeing how it affected Paro and repent that his past caused pain to Paro. He should be frustrated and take steps to make her understand.

Always Paro has insisted on this relationship/marriage either in the name of Shivparvati or destiny but this time Rudra should realise that he wants this marriage and her. I guess that would still give meaning to this track instead of Laila doing her nautanki.

I agree with all of your points! Laila's character has no charm anymore, she no longer fits into RR, and yes you're right...Ankita does not have a strong screen presence...it may be because Sanaya and Ashish are fully settled into their characters and Ankita is not, but nevertheless...Laila is just not working. I am not scared of what she can do, not does she ignite hate in me. All she does is irritate me and that too because I also find her presence in the haveli illogical and her antics can be described at best as baseless. When I see Laila on screen I have to stop myself from fast-forwarding...and when I am forced to watch her...all I can do is mentally try to calculate how long she may be in the show before her track finishes...God I hope it is soon...

That's the point of any vamp in a love story. I will say, all vamps are annoying as heck, it's not only Laila. Even if the actresses suit the role, they are irritating and awful. I remember Kis Desh Mein hai Mera Dil and other ones my mother used to watch and the vamps were irritating as hell. So my point: all vamps are irritating and make you fast forward their scenes. Laila is no different.

I do agree though, Ankita isn't suited for this role. I haven't seen any of her previous shows, but she doesn't have a vampish bone in her body. Credit to her for trying though...
