Part 1:
Paro got out of the jeep and looked around the familiar surroundings of Birpur. She had explained to Rudra that now his job was secure and he was well, he had no reason to suffocate himself in this marriage. She would leave and fulfil her promise made to Bholenath. Rudra was taken aback by this, Paro had always taken steps towards him, he was the one backing away but now she was just walking away and that too for such a promise she made to God which held no binding for him. He wanted to stop her but with what excuse, there wasn't any. He was enraged at yet again another beautiful woman abandoning him, he didn't try to stop her when she left and asked Aman to drop her off to her mami's house.
Tears welled up in Paro's eyes as she looked at the house she had grown up in. It didn't feel like home anymore, the haveli she had left behind in Chandangadh was her home now.
"Bhabhi...aap sach mein yehi chahti hai?" (Do you reqlly want to do this?) Aman asked. He had grown fond of Paro as a younger sister and now as a bhabhi, he had noticed the subtle yet noticeable good changes she had bought out in Rudra.
"Aur koi raasta nahin hai mare paas," (I don't have any other option) Paro said helplessly. Aman didn't know what else to say, he knew she was stubborn and wouldn't budge from her resolve, he turned to leave as Paro headed for the house.
"Aman bhaisa," Paro called turning back, Aman looked back hopeful she had miraculously changed her mind, "Major saab ka dhyaan rakhna...woh apna dhyaan bilkul nahin rakhte aur iss waqt to Bapusa bhi nahin hai unke saath," (look after Rudra, he doesn't look after himself at all and at this time even Dilsheer is not there with him), Paro said worried.
"Bhabhi, apke siva koi aur unka dhyaan nahi rakh sakta, jis tarah aap Sir ko samajti hai aur koi nahin samaj ta...wapas chaliye unke paas," (Paro, no one other than you can take care of Rudra, the way you understand him no one else can...come back to him) Aman pleaded but Paro shook her head, wiped her tears and rushed inside.
Back in Chandangadh Rudra was restlessly pacing around his room. He couldn't get thoughts of Paro out of his head, everything in this room reminded her of him. He pulled out the bottle of whisky from the drawer by the bed but even that reminded him of Paro. How she drank an entire jug of milk despite being lactose intolerant just so he wouldn't drink alcohol. Rage and misery were boiling inside him, hands trembling in anger he threw the bottle across the room, glass shards spread across the room.
"Shabash...15 saal badh bhi kuch nahin seekha tu ne, wohi galtiya kar raha hai jo meine ki thi," (well done, 15 years on and you still haven't learnt anything, you're making the same mistakes as I did) growled Dilsheer from the doorway. He had returned from his teerath yatra (pilgrimage). Danveer had briefed him everything that had happened since he left on their way back from the bus stand.
"Mein kuch din ke liye jaata hoon aur itna kuch ho jata hai...shaadi kar li tune aur mahine bhar mein usse jaane bhi diya...rooka kyun nahi usko?" (I leave for a few days and so much happenes, you get married and within a month let her leave you...why didn't you stop her?) Dilsheer asked angrily.
"Kyun rokun mein...maine thodi he bola tha jaane ke liye, apni marzi se gayi hai woh...uske andh vishvaas ki wajah se gayi hai woh...aur kya kaha tumne, kuch nahin seekha mein 15 saal mein...sahi hai kuch nahin seekha agar seekha hota toh khabhi uske jaise khoobsurat aurat pe bharosa nahi karta" (why should I stop her, did I ask her to leave? She left as per her own wish, she left because of her blind beliefs...and what was it you said? I haven't learnt anything in the last 15 years, yes I haven't learnt anything because if I had I would never have trusted a beautiful woman like her) Rudra said hurt engraved all over his features, he was almost physically breaking down into pieces as the full force of
Paro's separation began sinking him.
"Usne tujhe tyaaga ta ke teri jaan bach jaye...tune usko nahin tyaaga...wapas le aa usko...waise bhi uske jaan ke dushman abhi bhi bahar choot se ghum rahe hai" (she gave you up, you didn't give her up so go and bring her back...as it is her life is still at threat with enemies roaming around in the open) Dilsheer explained
Rudra was still fuming, "mein BSD mein Major hoon, jabse uss bewakoof ladki se mila hoon lagta hai uska aangrakshak ban gaya...woh samajti nahi uski jaan ko bahar kitna khatra hai...aana hoga toh aajayegi" (I am a Major in the BSD but since meeting this girl it's as though I merely her bodyguard, why doesn't she understand how endangered her life is outside...if she wants to come back she will).
Rudra's phone rang, it was Aman, "haan Aman" Rudra answered.
"Sir problem hai...humare soldiers jo Bhabhi ke ghar ki suraksha kar rahe hai unho ne inform kiya hai ke Tejawat ke wafadar admi Bhabhi ko kidnap kar ne ka plan bana rahe hai...Bhabhi se badla lena chahte hai Tejawat ke khilaf testify karne ke lijiye...Bhabhi ka Birpur ruk na unke liye khatarnak ho sakta hai," (Rudra there is a problem, our soldiers who are safeguarding Paro's house have informed us that some of Tejawat's men want to kidnap Paro as revenge for testifying against Tejawat. Paro staying in Birpur can prove dangerous) Aman informed.
"Paro," was all Rudra managed to say fear engulfing him, he had to be around her, he couldn't trust anyone else with her safety, "Aman mein Birpur ke liye nikal raha hoon," (Aman I'm leaving for Birpur now). Rudra disconnected the phone, looked up to see Dilsheer giving him a satisfied smirk. Rudra didn't have time for his side comments right now, he gathered his gun, extra bullets and ID.
"Rudradev...apne phatphatiya ki chabi aap bhool gaye" (Rudra you forgot you bike key) Dilsheer said, the smirk still plastered on his face, he pointed to Rudra's keys that were lying on the bed. Rudra took them as he was left the room.
"Apna dhyaan rakhna, jald he laut aunga," (look after yourself, I'll be back soon) Rudra said.
"Akele maat ana, mari bahu ko saath mein le ana," (don't come alone, bring my daughter-in-law with you) was the reply Rudra got as he left.
Back in Birpur, Paro's mami hugged her tightly, elated to see Paro after so long, however she looked startled after taking in Paro's appearance properly.
"Baisa...ye sindoor, ye gale mein dhaaga?" (This sindoor and the thread around your neck?) she asked puzzled. Paro explained to her about her marriage to Rudra but somehow didn't want to say that she had left Rudra so merely left it to,"I was missing you so came here for a few days"
Paro was sitting in the yard cutting vegetable when Rukhmini, her blue butterfly came flying around her.
"Arre Rukhmini," Paro gave a very small smile momentarily, "tu bhi yahaan agayi...dekho na yahaan bilkul maan nahi lagta," (Rukhmini you've come back here as well, nothing seems interesting here anymore) Paro shared her feelings with jer friend. There was a growing hole of emptiness that was engulfing her, not even a day had passed yet she missed Rudra, the look in his eyes when she left tormented her.
"Jamai ji ki yaad arahi hai," (are you missing Rudra?) Mami asked her in a soft teasing tone. Paro just hugged her.
It was nightfall, Paro and Mami sa were about to go to sleep when Rudra's bike pulled over, Paro looked out of the door to see Rudra there.
"Major saab?!" She exclaimed almost running out to greet him. Mami followed her, "aap yahaan?"
Rudra sighed in relief seeing her ok, no goons had harmed her, "teekh ho?" (Are you ok?) he asked, pushing back all his anger at her away, he didn't want to be the one to hurt her right now.
"Huh...haan," Paro said simply. Mami was also out in the yard now.
"Jamai ji aap yahaan, iss waqt?" (Rudra you here at this hour?) Mami asked surprised. Rudra gathered that Paro had told her about their wedding but he didn't know how much else Mami knew.
"Haan woh...Paro ko...matlaab Paro..." (Yes...that Paro...I mean for Paro) Rudra said awkwardly staring here and there not knowing what to say ,"Paro...khane ka nahi poocho hi?" (Paro won't you ask me if I wanna eat) Rudra asked eyes back on Paro.
"Aye na," Mami welcomed him inside the house. Paro looked taken aback at how he was behaving, what was Rudra up to she wondered as she followed him inside.
Precap: "mein nahi manta aise andh vishvaas mein, tu ne bhagwan ko vachna diya tha mujhe chod ne ka, meine koi vachan nahi diya tha tujh se duur jana ka"- Rudra
(I don't believe in such blind beliefs, you promised to God to give me up, I didn't promise to stay away from you)
