The way you described the warm affection she shares with the neighbourhood children, brought a smile to my face...till it all became bleak and cold...the contrast was amazing!
I found myself shivering as I read the way she inflicts wounds and pain on herself, just to drive away every memory of him...why? oh why must she hate him so? When she can't stop herself from loving him... why this conflict in her heart...?
She tries to emulate him, to be cold and unloving...but she can't...she would rather believe herself to be dead...
We normally see the hero going through such trauma in love and willing to cut himself, if it provides a distraction from the agony in his heart..
Was poignant to see the heroine resorting to such actions...how utterly delirious in love she must be, to do this to herself..
