Here is what is on my mind lately -
Off late, I have observed that shows with high TRPs in the past, in order to get back the lost momentum, are reverting to killing off the initial jodi we (viewers) fell in love with, and then starting off another love story in its place to keep the show running.
From the show makers point of view, this is a perfectly legitimate thing to do. Since TRPs are what brings money. Do what it takes to get back the momentum. Love stories do have a limited life span after all. Once the initial story is revealed, what else would you show the viewer to keep the interest intact?
However, for a viewer, who gets emotionally attached to a jodi, this is grossly unfair. As a viewer, you are practically living your life through these jodis. Then to witness their death/their characters getting butchered beyond recognition is almost as painful as losing someone close to you in your life.
So, as a viewer, if you are watching a love story, may be, low TRPs aren't a curse after all? Because once the initial story is told, the show will be forced to shut, leaving behind happy memories for one and all.
As I said, I wanted to initiate a healthy debate, and hopefully, people will take it in the right spirit.
Having said this, I sincerely wish that RR TRPs do increase, and the crew achieves whatever it desires to achieve during the stint of the show. But this discussion is not about that.
