Fantastic, Rae!

I'm glad you didn't allow the constraints of writing a Drabble (I guess hence the "Drabble-ish"? hehe) to stop you from fleshing out the reason Dilsher lies here--the flashbacks, and the contrast. I'm glad that Dilsher's emotions start with a repentance of the lies he had deliberately told his son back when he was a child--beautiful women lie, beautiful women are evil, etc...and regretting the "flight of innocence" he so callously expedited, if not actually forced, upon a troubled child. The imagery--the child crying, him deliberately allowing the tears--tossing and turning back then, the cruelty that comes due to his own lost hopes--gorgeously, movingly brought out here.

His motivation now---to protect Rudra from another staggering betrayal---so clearly he believes Paro has tried to kill him---and to give up on vengeance to opt instead for protecting his grown up son from that pain---wonderful twist. The father-son equation in this show is so complicated, huh? I mean, there is love--overwhelming love on both sides--all the burnt rotis and barbs cannot disguise rough affection, and how much they are both inherently alike. But there is such rage, such a sense of anger and shared loss too. But I love the strange moments of tenderness--the haldi applying scene, where Dilsher almost caresses Rudra's face with his fingers, and says--why are you damn stubborn? and Rudra deadpans--Got it in the blood, I guess...moments like that make me have hope for them.

But sons are completely different animals than daughters, and fathers often don't know the men they create. Your Dilsher does, which is wonderful, AND tragic--because he has not created a man, not here--he has created a beast and one more blow to that beast would be one too many. I wonder if you will examine the ramifications of this lie? Paro, valiantly fighting against goons as opposed to ruthlessly setting Dilsher's room on fire--how different is this lie from the old one about Mala? Just as potentially deadly for Rudra, right? He wont rest on that bed, with his head on Dilsher's lap anymore now, than he would have in the past---he will fight to get her back--when she is already gone. I hope you'll continue, and soon---your fault, really Rae--you cannot create a fascinating alternative story line, rife with possibilities and not expect hectoring from us readers to continue!

Lovely as always. Touching, moving, evocative. But then again-- you knew all that!

When I read it I understood but was not sure what I comprehended. Thanks to naptsmonster...Rae I think to comment on your intellectual work in detail ...one should be of your equal league...which I am sure not. But I can appreciate as a normal reader ..so please give next part too. The bond between rudra and dilsher is unique . Hope they won't kill dilsher in the show.

I love that you have explored the equation between the father and son. I don't know how much they will show in show on these two, but you have defiantly allowed us to see how it may be.

This is so beautiful. I already love their relationship, albeit it is still unexplored - full of gruff love between two men. I am not sure what will happen in the show, but I do see that Dilsher will look at Paro anew after the fire episode. He had been her firm ally from day one and now that will change I suppose. Look forward to reading more.

Aisi koi baat nahin hai yaar. This OS is, for me, a lil all over the place (hence the note below) but in any case, you can definitely ask me if you ever have any doubts! Thank You for your comment though and about another part, I dont think there will be one (not sure as of yet)...this was a one off drabble :)

Out of the three pieces you've written on RR, this has to be the one I loved the most. This was brilliant Rae! Whatever may be the circumstances - his belief that Paro plotted to kill him/ run away, he could have easily repeated what he had said to Rudra years back - the thing about beautiful women always leaving. But what he did, was so touching, his character has shown such growth - which you've captured magnificently in this piece.
Amazing, beautiful work - as always! <3
