TBH, emotions are emotions. When they form beyond the magnitude of human understanding , we term them 'syndromes' and try to analyze them psychologically.
Anyway, that said, it all depends on how strong the attachment is. Sometimes, it ends as soon as the situation is over , sometimes it is lined with doubt when you are connecting to the other party but you have trust issues. Sometimes, such strong bonds are formed in these situations, that you feel emotionally linked to that person all your life. Degree of attachment , person's character, the mutual help and support given - they all go into this.
For example , there is a syndrome called ' Heel Face Turn Syndrome'. This means a bad guy turning over a good leaf - and this turn is permanent ONLY if the bad guy himself believes that he has a good soul and he can be redeemed. This is PERMANENT. And then, there is a Heel Face Door Slam where the bad guy steps back from turning good because he feels he will never be redeemed.
Interesting, hai na? 😳
