Why is there no episode bank?

I've noticed that most desi soaps don't have an episode bank. Maybe a day or two at the most. Why is this? Do they change tracks at a moments notice due to trp pressures?
The daily soaps in the US like GH and Y&R etc all have 3-4 weeks worth of banked episodes. If RR had banked episodes it would have been so much easier for them to deal with last minute emergencies like with Ashish's sickness (which was unavoidable).

Any thoughts?

The problem with a sudden leave is that even if hey had an episode bank, it would have been for a few days at most, and Ashish is expected to be out of action for almost two weeks, give or take. Any scenes they have canned would need him to be present after a few days, and he can't be there. So they probably can't use the scenes they have already canned, and have to keep them for later. They now have to re-work an entire track, and insert a mini track out of the blue.

Maybe they do. But if they show those episodes, and then Ashish is unavailable for a fortnight, then how will those scenes make sense? He won't be there to shoot an immediate continuation story thing. How will they explain that?
See, this illness was unprecedented. Those episodes don't accommodate such changes, na.

The shows u mentioned have a huge star cast. Not everyone is on everyday. There are always multiple stories on at the same time. Which is in direct contrast to desi soaps. They concentrate on one track at a time. Infact, one of the main reasons why I luv RR is the multiple stories with suspense and drama in them. This is a good opportunity to explore other aspects when Rudra goes missing.

That's just not how the hindi tv industry works somehow. From what I've heard, they have to have about 13 or so episodes done on their own when they take the concept to the channel, and it is only if the channel bites, they get funding from them.
It may be out of necessity, not having an episode bank. Because the moment the channel starts paying you, they start dictating terms. They probably figured that it's easier to shoot and air back to back.

I think even if they start off with a bank, it takes about 2 days to shoot an epi, and eventually they run out

Makes sense. Can totally imagine the channels interfering and dictating terms. We know that happened with the show that cannot be named.😃

In india, the serial can fold any time.they will be given one month notice to wrap up the serial.so bankable episodes will not work as there is a swift change in track and before we know it,it is Over.
In the US,they are given 1 season, and if the rating is low, they will fold, but only after the season is over.

Yes The main problem with IPK was excessive interference from the channel, they wanted remarriage.they would not let 4lions stop the serial when it was time to.and in the end ,just shut the serial down, without any remorse.
The more popular a serial gets, the more channel will demand
