I have been thinking about this for a while now

Let's look at the shows that top TRPs on a regular basis, shall we?

1. Diya Aur Baati Hum - Prime time slot occupied by a story that shows a woman fighting to have a career while dealing with pressures of family and society
- Story of modern, middle class India. Sure the show dramatizes it but I cannot disagree that most Indian women are caught in some form of this dilemma

2. Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma - Prime time comedy show involving different cultures in the classic Doordarshan style - From personal experience - I know that this show is watched to give the TRP uncles their chance at the TV remote

3. Qubool Hai - Classic prime time drama with many elements thrown in. I haven't watched it but I know that it started out as a love story IPK style but eventually incorporated enough suspense and drama to attract loads of people - including many TRP aunties like my mother

4. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai - The great Indian family drama - the only show that has actively avoided use of any permanent vamps and villains and only relies on human nature to create drama. The sheer breadth of issues they cover - i think - makes it relatable to everyone who watches!

5. Balika Vadhu - Far reaching rural reach with real issues amidst all the glamour. And the makers have risked some bold issues like child marriage, widow remarriage, adoption and so much more.

6. CID and Crime Patrol - Again a favorite with the TRP Uncles and surprising with their appearance on the list despite the fact that they air only 3 days a week.

If you see the above list - I think there is a clear trend.

  • Either the show needs to be relatable to large audience or very tight in terms of plot and execution.
  • The show needs to have been running for a while to allow more people the chance to find a track that interests them and thereby help them tune in to that channel in that time slot
  • Popularity of other shows in the same time slot - With the exception of Qubool Hai and Yeh Rishta - most shows in the list above rule their particular time slot
At this point - RR is falling short on all the above. Even if they include kitchen politics - there is enough in shows that exist for that to make RR gain audience. The competition in the time slot is rather fierce with 2 top shows already running at 9.30.

So the only option is to do something with the story, execution, plot, suspense etc. AND to give it time without hurrying to change tracks because TRP isn't picking up

They seem to have the ingredients.

Let's see

meera bai sa😊
each of these shows are working with the audience because they have something to connect the audience , but something more interesting thing that i gather from you analysis is that these shows are very different from each other , they have varying unique selling points
and here is what i feel
the audience is not limited , it is just that each of the show draws a different kind of audience , but it is necessary to attract the correct kind of audience , you cant make the show for every body it will not work , going by previous successful projects may not always work
there are not hit formula for success
what the makers should concentrate is in making a unique story line go by what they promised , i feel this show has a potential story wise
yesterday's takur -mal -dilsher angle
infact all of the older generation they can have a tight story and i agree with you as far as this show is concerned i think only that can save this show
and if channel slowing down the show is what bothers them , these kinds of show can get a very good following outside india , and it is doing well , a very important revenue generator for the channel , so that i dont think is a major concern
but these makers are many times short sighted

1. try to gather trps by going the regular way 1 vamp 1 sati savitri 1 dashing hero-cant work because regular audience has better saas bahu options

2.otherwise concentrate on the story , write a catchy story make the show popular , increase the bargaining power by the popularity oversees or india

Lmao sanaya and politics 🤣

Her habit of calling a spade a spade n being brutally honest makes her a very bad politician. No party that is sensible will ever take her lol.. she is too truthful n honest for politics 😆

Online IF metrics rarely match TRP audience mainly because IF consists of 3 groups - group who watch for the robust discussions and like the anonymity provided by IF, group who watch for the love for an actor/actress irrespective of the show, group who genuinely love the show. Having said that it is not elusive that these two metrics can meet. Case and point the #2 ranked show in the TRP charts, it has managed to even break the stranglehold of the #1 show for a week and get the top position in the TRP charts.

Jodha Akbar is similar in core concept to RR. At the center is a love story surrounded by vamps, villains and all standard fixtures😃 So yes, a love story can be at the top of the TRP charts. Just because the TRP audience does not agree with the show you love does not mean that we need to relegate them to stone age which is often the statement made in forums. If anything, they are the people who just watch for the entertainment value which can often be seen with key tracks garnering rise in TRPs across shows.

RR is comparatively a new show but the grace period is running out soon. As Meera30 said, if execution, narrative and plot tightens up and remains consistent, the TRP audience should follow.

hey😊
@ bold agree agree
i dont really think trp is a measure of popularity , at least with all the different channel(internet ) available for watching the show even if we are taking about trp audience
i think the trp audience is very wide , like for eg IF , this is a clearly a different set of audience at least preference wise
shows with different type of story and content do work
but the bottle neck here is these makers look for instantaneous earning ,that is initially at leastdominated by TRPs , because it gives them bargaining power for AD slots ,

like if something works for one show it is copying widely , that something might not really work for your show this i think can can go against the show

like you said just going by trps can have side effect , if they resolve to changing the theme , i feel it will not work for this show atall
