You have summed it up so well! I had a lump justvreading your list of Rudra's "shocks". How Paro will draw gim out of this self consuming misery will be hard to watch. I hope the CVs do it aesthetically.

How exciting and tragic can a love story be where we the audience instead of looking forward to the love story more or less dreading it. Such is the character of Rudra and his experience in life that it has made him a man of paradox, for every extreme emotion there is another extreme counter emotion. He can be calm as much as he can be volatile, he can hate as much as being capable of limitless love, he is apathetic towards life but his passion for his job and his conviction defines him, his anger is explosive but at the same time he is gentle, he is fearless of life his courage has no bounds on the battlefield but he is also filled with constant dread, he is a leader of many men but yet he stands alone, he can easily pull on that trigger and blow somebody brains out but he values life and the living above all else, he strikes fear in those that see only his darkness but he uses the darkness to guard the light just like the batman, he hates the concept of family but he values relations of others especially the men that serve with him and under him, and lastly he doesn't fear death but life itself.

Yet another beautiful poetry of words...
Rudra...a man of extreme emotions...and yes...that makes for the mystery of the Parud journey...whether they will live rising above all or die together to finally find peace and happiness.

You are right...he does not fear death...but he fears life...coz till there is life...there is emotions...there is attachment...to place...to people...to whatever that is left behind like his job...
With these many betrayals...the word "trust" and "hope" is fades away into almost nothing...and to live life...these are very important attributes to have...And Rudra have been failed and will come to know more failures in these very attributes...
Each time he trusts...each time he hopes...he will be betrayed...

Paro on the other hand is so white...so pure and trust and hope are the very things she clings onto...She trusts her people...she unknowingly trusts Rudra...She hopes Rudra will rise...and she herself is the only hope for Rudra...
Whether or not she will be able to bring Rudra out of darkness or not is yet to be seen!

I wanted to make a separate post on this. I am squirming at the upcoming track I wish the writers didn't do this to poor Rudra there is too many shocks waiting for him.
Shock #1: His mother did run off with another man, the betrayed child might have held on to some hope that something terrible must have happened to make her take this step that she had a good reason. Rudra has to face the fact that his mother is as dishonorable as a woman can get.
Shock #2: Her mother's new husband, step father to him by marriage is Tejawat, a terrorist he wants to destroy. I can't imagine the horror of such a truth on Rudra, words won't do justice to the torture this will put him through. To him his mother will become a terrorist too, doesn't matter if she knew anything or not, even the audience isn't goint to buy her hogwash excuse, are u freaking kidding me after living with a man all these years how do you claim to know nothing.
Shock #3: His Kaka kept contacts with his mother and didn't tell him. For what it is worth Rudra still thinks highly of his kaka even though he doesn't show it, but Rudra is right no relation is worth trusting another betrayal for him to swallow.
Shock #4: Paro a woman he could have grown to love, he could have been content and happy with her when all the misunderstandings cleared but what will it do it to him know his traitorous mother raised her. Wouldn't he always see his mother's shadow in her, wouldn't their relation be tainted forever. After all what kind of sanskaars will she have when raised by a woman who abandoned her marriage for something rosier.
Shock #5: When his mother truth is out to the world, his position and prestige in the army would be ridiculed. All those that did not know about his mother will know once Tejawat is outed that his mother is married to at terrorist, the stigma of this to his uniform his pride and joy his everything will forever be tainted. The humiliation he will have to face due to his mother not just in his professional life but personal life, mohini kaki will have a field day.
After all these shocks are dealt to Rudra will there be anything left in this man. I hope the writers know what they are doing, there is only so much damage a human can take before he is just all destroyed. His mother has ruined his past by scarring his childhood tainting any good memory left, his present will be hell as he has to deal with her traitorous actions which will eventually cost him his sanity and what little peace he had left will be gone, his future too will go up in smoke as Paro will channel all that he fears because of his mother he will destroy her and destroy himself in the process.I wish the writers had some happiness in store for Rudra, I know we think it is Paro's love but at this point the way I see it love has more scope of destroying him than restoring him. I have never felt more sorry for a character writers couldn't have made him any more tragic.
Ok on a positive note maybe Rudra will rise like the phoenix from the ashes and go on to lead a happy life with his Paro. I hope so I hope it is not two gun shots I hear at the end.

Although literally impossible , I still hope for this day to come...

So aptly said yes with life all the good things come such as, love, trust, hope, happiness all these positive makes life worth living, that is what makes you want to get up in the morning. We might not feel all these emotions equally all the time life has its ups and downs. But for someone like Rudra after the biggest betrayal was stripped away all the positives from his life, now he willingly keeps all these good emotions away from him because to feel again and then to get hurt he doesn't want to go down that path. Betrayal seems to be the key theme in Rudra life, it is his Achilles heel.

Beautifully analyzed!!!!
Right now I shudder to think about what will happen to Rudra. He is definitely a more tragic character than Paro.

Beautifully written. Interminable tragedies define his life. Yet, there is a humanity in him, and honor, that does shine through. Paro cannot see it for good reason, but even she instinctively knows she is safe with him and he is honorable in that regard (at least). It is unusual for a hardened man to have such a soft core that he can cry. That is the kernal, the place where the dna of redemption resides, and could be catalyzed under the right circumstances perhaps...with enduring trust, self-less love. perhaps.

And she has seen him cry; not only that, he has spoken to her of the harshness of his reality his deepest darkness and the tragedies that have stalked his life like a booby-trapped road ... so it is a start...that he can share that with her, let her into those dark spaces.

However, I still can't square the Thankurain's character that we have been shown with the heartless mother who fled for a better life leaving lifelong destruction behind. I haven't read the interviews, but it just doesn't gel...
