Pati Parmeshwar! Hence wifey must concede to his whims and wishes.

Eve was later created from one of Adam's ribs. So women must remain a second class citizen, whose sole existence depend on men.

So this culture of the women must be subservient continues.

So true...women trouble women the most!!
Chachi wanted to test paro and Rudra so she chose the most demeaning task she could...one that she was sure paro would refuse to carry out because she believes their relationship is fake!
Agree it's a regressive to the core thing to ask a fiance to pick up the shoes..whether she is fake or real...and one might wonder if the writers did right by showing this...but atleast Rudra didn't allow her to pick up the shoes...whatever may have been his reasons..!
I am sure there have been multiple instances in shows where the female lead would have to actually pander to the male leads family's demands however demeaning they may be!
Here Atleast this show was thankfully different!

Whats more sad than them showing such stuff is that there is an appreciative audience for this kind of regressive nonsense. These r the woman responsible for raising chauvinist men.
In an attempt to create something that suits people's taste.. they are reinforcing regressive lifestyles, ideologies and attitudes!!

@bold-Word!
One may say, what can television do-its fiction, at the end of the day & people don't learn anything from it, but to, consciously reinforce, uphold these ridiculously sexist issues in the name of tradition & culture, to brazen it out by claiming to have held a mirror to the society is pathetic! Everything matters, even a TV show's content matters! It might be a drop in the ocean, but each of these contribute to the bullshit rules that the society, conveniently follows & expects of others to follow!

We all have to keep remembering that this story is set under a rural backdrop where it is all about which village you belong to shades of a caste sort of loyalty
And I am guessing for Paro her village has not seen any of the gizmos and technology that we take for granted Tejawat has seen to that for else no way could some gun running operation take place without a voice raised
From the limited knowledge of my exposure to Indian films/soaps regional national shoes are the great leveler in all Indian films soaps You love your husband you will clean his shoes before he goes to work or remove his shoes when he comes home tired from work You polish those shoes for your man is working hard to feed clothe and shelter you and you show your gratitude for his generosity

I was not surprised that Mohini asked her to do so for that would have been the test of loyalty for a woman steeped in conservative values and upbringing read Paro Whilst Mohini may not do it anymore if ever but she has her Bahu Metre to check the potential quality of submissiveness in daughter in laws and her willingness to pick after her husband would mean that there is a relationship that seems dysfunctional to us city slickers but perfectly normal in their timeline

As for Paro she is what a 5th standard pass whose only greatest happiness was the supposed but alas now gone opportunity to chose her wall paint run her kitchen et al and there is the inbuilt mechanism to respect authority and SI did portray her dismay and reluctance but yet fear of disrespecting an older person well enough for me to be ok with the scene She did not do it willingly but was forced to comply given the circumstance and she also saw the pain his father was feeling So she chose to alleviate that as well

NB, it's actually normal in my family as my brother and father think it's a girl's duty to clean shoes. I give them a good rant before doing that. I purposely pour more than necessary amount of leather conditioner on my bro's shoes to piss him off later. Anyways, I'm happy that Rudra didn't let Paro touch his shoes and it is shaming that some people still expect women to do such things. The men in my family believe that females are supposed to do domestic tasks as they relax. I'm swearing that I never marry a man that thinks their way.

Thank god Rudra isnt shown to be the misogynistic PIG that most Indian TV men are shown to be.

P.S- Paro should have refused, disappointed that she hesitantly agreed to do it.

P.P.S- I don't find anything wrong with someone moving shoes out of their own will. Its the force and pressure tactics I have a problem with.

Hi Girls,
women are indeed women's worst enemies. Plz don't say that it is an exaggerated scene and there is no link between picking shoes and being a worthy daughter in law. Even today most mother in laws , educated or uneducated, think submissive woman is a key to future domestic bliss and it still happen in 21st century India. When educated, cultured daughters of urban household keep their mouth tight shut, swallow their pride and tears, and mechanically follow these kind of orders in the name of ritual, do u really expect a nave, half educated, abandoned by all Paro Baisa to defy blatantly and engage in verbal combat with Mohini whom even her children, Husband fear like Yama, the God of Death! Even Rudra tries to avoid her lashing tongue. I personally think that the hesitation that Pro shows is more than enough sign of her disagreement. Statistics show that villages of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana are the nestling houses of domestic abuse and usually it is the matriarchs of the family who torment mentally and physically the young brides to submission. so atleast in this case CVs showed a real picture.
