RReversal of Fortune

In the space of a day, her life had changed out of all recognition. As the sun rose, Paro'd stepped into her doli a bride, and now as the sun sank, so it seemed did her fortune, for she stepped out of the police jeep a widow.
Such a dizzying reversal of fortune that she couldn't wrap her head around it. But if she was living the nightmare, than what had that other ceremony been? Had it even taken place? That's why she'd sat staring at his name hennaed into her hands, and then stood before the mirror taking in her red bridal dress, raising trembling fingers to where the sindoor hid under her tikka, holding on to her mangalsutra. And they were there - all the signs of her suhaag. Then where was he?
She'd looked her husband's killer in the eyes and asked him why he'd murdered her beend, and he'd backed off; looked away. Not retreated like her, skittering away like an abused animal till her back hit the wall, but he'd left her alone all the same.
And then he'd returned to her dark cell and hauled her up yet again. And as with Varunsa, here too the words had spilled out: "Now what do you want from me?" And he'd opened the handcuffs and dragged her after him till she'd voiced her fear: "Where are you taking me?"
"Back..." he'd said as if that was possible.
But he'd driven her to the middle of Birpur, her Birpur, that close to Mamisa, to home, to Thakurain Masa, to the end of her nightmare, and offered her her freedom in exchange for signing on a lie; the biggest lie of all. The devil! She'd never do it.
So he'd flung her at her Mamisa...Mamisa who wouldn't hug her back, or weep with her, or stroke her hair, or shush her and tell her it'd all be okay... Mamisa must make her see sense, he'd said. But Mamisa herself wasn't making sense now...
Another dramatic episode, the tragedy a sure-fire tearjerker (I'm proof). Sanaya, Sanaya, Sanaya!!Such a nuanced portrayal of a new widow, of trenchant grief, suffering, shock, fear, hope, disbelief, rage, and still more devastation. 👏👏👏👏 How glad I am that I'm following this serial.
👏👏👏And kudos to Ashish for giving us so many shades of Rudra in one episode - brutal, restrained, charming, sinister, furious, shocked - such a joy to watch.
CVs, cast and crew, much applause for a finely-crafted episode that's subtle and nuanced but still wallops us with emotion. What a week! And there's still one amazing episode to go...

Well written as usual. Tomorrow will be complete annihilation of Paro's small world. She will be thrown into the deep sea, but what emerges from it will be a revelation in itself. Enjoyed seeing the beginnings of a defiant Paro today, her tiny step towards coming of age has begun.
Sanaya 👏 and Ashish well done.

Great analysis :)

So much to take in...all in one episode alone. Sanaya was simply WOW. I really liked the scene where Rudra enters the cell and Paro slides back in panic, only to hit the wall. The fear was visible on Paro's face and kudos to Sanaya. It's not easy to pull off such scenes naturally, but she did.

But I really hated the moment where Mamisa failed to acknowledge Paro and questioned who she was. Fear/loyalty for Thakur - whatever you wanna call it...it was so cruel. So easily the village turned against their very own Paro. As cynical as this may sound, lekin koi kisi ka nahin hota hai. Everyone saves their own backside.

And since this is the first show I am watching with Ashish in it, I am in awe of the guy. He's an intense actor and clearly knows his craft well. He's had to display various emotions already and he's done so with ease. I can see myself going fida over this guy 😆😳

Sanaya 👏 and Ashish well done.

Thank you. Yes I'm dreading and looking forward to tomorrow in equal measures. Poor Paro. That's some swift growing up in store for her, although she's already taken more than her fair share of knocks. Wonder what this latest shock will do to her. Will she retain any of her niceness, or will she become bitter and hostile, and in what measure.

Thank you Sonia. 😊 Definitely gripping enough to draw me away from my earlier serials. 😃

@bold: Completely agree. It's when I get down to write that I realise that it's going to be impossible to talk about all the key points of the episode.
@Fear: That was an amazing scene - the opening scene where Rudra opens the door to her cell and her eyes darken with fear, followed by the scene you describe. Completely believable.
@Mamisa: Ah, that was tragic! Why did she do it? Surely there's no going back now. Because even if that was the only way to get Rudra to turn Paro loose now, the moment Mamisa or anybody else acknowledges Paro in the future, Rudra will be back. No! The sacrifice the Thakur asked for was of Paro's life in connection with Birpur (maybe he said he'd relocate her elsewhere), but actually I'm pretty sure the Thakur will try and get Paro killed.
@Aaahshish!! I couldn't agree more.
BTW, great taste in serials. 😊 Jennifer Ehle really was the best Liz.

Awsome write up as always.
I had a feeling today's epi was loaded with symbolism, yet the story moved forward.
I love the fact that without dialogues, just thru eyes and body lang Parud convey a lot to us.

Some parts stood out for me, when he walks over her broken bangles towards her in the first scene - he will ride rough shed over her life, irrelevant of causing her pain. That has already started.

Rudra sa has a one track mind when it comes to his missions.😆 Simply eliminating the bad. As his senior told him, the guns and the money prove nothing...

Rudra disliking having to 'mellow' towards a 'terrorist' in order to get the proof under his seniors command.

When he unlocks her handcuffs & says she's free. Paro was terrified if he really is going to do so or taking her away som where else. Hence her hesitation before stepping out of the BSD headquarters.

The scene that took the cake! He opens the door for her to join him in the passenger seat, she goes n sits in the back instead, that spark of attitude had Rudra's temper rolling🤣...he slams the door n speeds off before she is settled. It's indicative of the future na, she won't give in to him so easily.
Just a she is bent on creating upheaval in her life, she will make him waste twice the effort each time!!!

I didn't understand what he was saying in the car scene at first, then 3rd time around😆 realized he was trying to tune into her love for her motherland, using it as a underhand tactic to get her to sign.

Mamisa's reaction was understandable, depending the garbage Tejawat had fed them. But more surprising was Rudra's reaction.

And Paro will enter another black pitch of despair when the villagers refuse to recognize her.

Ashish and Sanaya just steal the show, 👏

awesome post...
the best for me was this...since I did not ponder over this fact before until I read your post now...

In the space of a day, her life had changed out of all recognition. As the sun rose, Paro'd stepped into her doli a bride, and now as the sun sank, so it seemed did her fortune, for she stepped out of the police jeep a widow.
this is cruel truth that ,in the space of a day, her life changed devastatingly ...she changed from a suhagan to a widow, her myriad of dreams now lay like shattered pieces of her mirror and a happy life now seems a long lost dream...

sanaya and ashish were just so fabulous...
sanaya today looked so vulnerable, confused, hurt and grieving her loss when she remembered her wedding rituals, she did not even got a chance for ceremonial grieving for her husband's death,..her eyes spoke volumes,
her emotions hit the chord of the heart...
she emerged a little stronger when she looked into rudra's eyes and lamented her hubby's death...she acted stronger when she refused to sign.
poor paro...all the future holds for her is heartbreak, abandonment and insult...with noone to actually comfort her...
now only rudra will have to shoulder this vulnerable soul .

Even ashish was fabulous, his body language, his expressions conveyed so much...he even softened a bit for paro but not enough to make a difference...

precap-Thakursa cannot turn nastier😡 ,or maybe he can?

p.s- I have never mentioned but I love the title of your posts starting with RR... 😳
