I have held a record about not crying with an Indian Television Serial. And it seems as if Rangrasiya is hell bent on breaking the record so shamefully. I literally emptied my eyes out during the whole episode.
The start. The middle. The end.
What does one write for something that shook their soul?
When Paro started running towards Varun, the shrieks... Uff, they seemed to echo inside my chest, as she screamed like a woman who lost everything, absolutely everything in her life. She cried, screamed, on watching the love of her life there lying lifeless.
She for once, tried, searching for some sign of life in her Banna-sa. Maybe some proof that her own life had not shattered to pieces. But alas, her Banna-sa was dead, and so were her dreams of a new life.
Her piercing shrieks seemed to affect Rudra, as he stared at her for a while before deciding what to do with her. For a moment there, it felt as if he was truly moved by the pain of the fragile woman who was breaking right in front of him.
But then, he was knocked back into his senses, and duty called. He nears her with a gun in his hand, already branding her an enemy in his mind. When he readies to fire, she looks him in the eye, and screams... Almost wanting him to pull the trigger. Why wouldn't she? Everything in her life had just ended, why not end in that moment as well. For Paro, her dreams, her life... Everything has just been brutally butchered. What is a person who has lost everything supposed to do?
But instead, he arrests her. He takes her back to the head quarters, and thrashes her onto the ground of interrogation room, thus breaking her bangles. It was symbolic in that moment, as a woman is supposed to break her bangles when she looses her husband. That scene is excruciatingly heartbreaking, and this was too.
When Paro was lying on the floor, murmuring into nothingness... I cried like a bucketload of tears. It reminded me of the scene when Izzie cried on the bathroom floor not believing that Denny had died just ten minutes after proposing her on Grey's Anatomy. I had cried horribly during that scene too, and I did the same here. I cried watching her not believing that this was all REALLY happening to her. I cried when she said that her mom and dad were going to get a new doll for her. Paro is broken. And nothing will fix her right now.
But the scene that came next was even more unbearable to watch. The moment Rudra was in the mortuary, facing the dead bodies of HIS men, I broke down again. The pure feeling of Patriotism that drives the army is unbelievable, and all that was shown with every inch of respect tonight. The way Rudra said, "Isse jaan dene mei hichkichaahat nahi hui, tumhe iska naam lene mei kaise ho sakti hai..?" Then as he lifted the last body to recognize it, ufff. No words can describe how brilliantly emotional that scene was. I would like to Salute the team of RR for respecting and showing the scene so brilliantly, that it invoked the Indian in me.
When Rudra was facing the mother of that Shaheed, I could only but cry. The families are left with the utter loss, always. Nobody can feel what the families go through when they lose their sons, husbands, fathers like this. The grief they feel, though others view it as respect and pride, for the families, it is just LOSS. And that was what the mother was feeling. The outrage was honest to the core. But the curse... The curse was a little too late for Rudra.
His wounds were scraped again by the voice of that mother. He was again reminded of the fact that what that lady said was cent percent true. That his mother wouldn't even care... wouldn't shed a single tear if tomorrow he died.
Overcome by grief, he tried to seek solace in the empty room, crying for the first time in eons. His heart twisted in pain, and his soul burned at the truth of those words. And Paro... Paro couldn't believe all this was happening. Paro couldn't believe she was in shackles. Paro just wanted to see someone, anyone at all... So even though it was a mirror, she cried on it, she cried with her reflection. She cried feeling all the pain in the world.
But as soon as Rudra sees he's been crying with her, he backs off in shock. That will be the most important aspect of their relationship. Him backing off.
He'll always be distrustful of her. Always.
Such beauty being shown on Indian Television. Its almost unbelievable.
