Hey Guys! I have been reading some posts about the show portraying too much violence and aggression.
To tell the truth I was too busy watching Rudra/Ashish to notice,😳 but now that I read this I gave it a thought.
Intense? Yesss. Raw? Most certainly. Mesmerizing? Oh, yes. Hard-hitting?
No doubt. But too violent, ott or too much action and authenticity? I dont think
so. Doesnt it depend on the setting and the protagonist? His character, his
past, his wounds, his profession and the location of the story? Rudra is afterall
a BSD officer. The Rann is not a party certainly. Fighting cross-border terrorism
and defending your nation's borders isnt a party. There is nothing soft or
dreamy about Rajasthan or the desert. And therefore the allure and the intensity
of the geography and the story set there. There are no, repeat no, half
measures in the desert. It is beautiful and unforgiving at the same time,
a temptress and a killer at the same time. There is no scope for error or
weakness.
For a TV show to achieve the cinematographic excellence, feel and
mounting of a movie is a huge achievement. Action scenes are the most
expensive, require the most planning and hard work and are the most difficult
to execute. If the show doesnt shy away from them and executes them with so
much elan, I think thats a huge plus and certainly not a negative.
And is the violence pointless or contrived? I think the violence is the
whole point of the show. The violence we see is the violence that is tearing
apart the inside of the protagonist Rudra. It is a carryover of the emotional and
psychological violence he has suffered as a child and which still pours out
from his eyes like fire, which has been festering and brewing for years. It
comes out whenever it can, and is part of his psyche and his self. Perhaps that
is why he has joined a para-military force, and chosen a profession that
requires physical violence which is an outlet for his violent inner turmoil. More
importantly, Rang Rasiya is exactly about that - a journey from a violent, inner
turmoil to a peace and acceptance that only love can bring. It is about the
healing and coming-to-terms of two people who are scarred by their pasts, torn
by it and their journey towards their inner and mutual salvation .
This is not a sanitized version of an imaginary story, toned down for our viewing comfort. It is a real story, with real people who have real fears and flaws in the very harsh, real and completely mesmerizing background of the desert. I think for me the raw, intense , edgystoryline works just fine. So I am going to sit back and enjoy this one...I am sure we all will..
