Give me some Action here!

Hey Guys! I have been reading some posts about the show portraying too much violence and aggression.

To tell the truth I was too busy watching Rudra/Ashish to notice,😳 but now that I read this I gave it a thought.

Intense? Yesss. Raw? Most certainly. Mesmerizing? Oh, yes. Hard-hitting?

No doubt. But too violent, ott or too much action and authenticity? I dont think

so. Doesnt it depend on the setting and the protagonist? His character, his

past, his wounds, his profession and the location of the story? Rudra is afterall

a BSD officer. The Rann is not a party certainly. Fighting cross-border terrorism

and defending your nation's borders isnt a party. There is nothing soft or

dreamy about Rajasthan or the desert. And therefore the allure and the intensity

of the geography and the story set there. There are no, repeat no, half

measures in the desert. It is beautiful and unforgiving at the same time,

a temptress and a killer at the same time. There is no scope for error or

weakness.

For a TV show to achieve the cinematographic excellence, feel and

mounting of a movie is a huge achievement. Action scenes are the most

expensive, require the most planning and hard work and are the most difficult

to execute. If the show doesnt shy away from them and executes them with so

much elan, I think thats a huge plus and certainly not a negative.

And is the violence pointless or contrived? I think the violence is the

whole point of the show. The violence we see is the violence that is tearing

apart the inside of the protagonist Rudra. It is a carryover of the emotional and

psychological violence he has suffered as a child and which still pours out

from his eyes like fire, which has been festering and brewing for years. It

comes out whenever it can, and is part of his psyche and his self. Perhaps that

is why he has joined a para-military force, and chosen a profession that

requires physical violence which is an outlet for his violent inner turmoil. More

importantly, Rang Rasiya is exactly about that - a journey from a violent, inner

turmoil to a peace and acceptance that only love can bring. It is about the

healing and coming-to-terms of two people who are scarred by their pasts, torn

by it and their journey towards their inner and mutual salvation .

This is not a sanitized version of an imaginary story, toned down for our viewing comfort. It is a real story, with real people who have real fears and flaws in the very harsh, real and completely mesmerizing background of the desert. I think for me the raw, intense , edgystoryline works just fine. So I am going to sit back and enjoy this one...I am sure we all will..

Brilliant post. I am happy that you thought of posting it in a separate thread.

So far as the violence is concerned, its nothing new to the Indian audience. The only difference is, violence or action in such larger scale was never shown in any tv drama. Now is that a bad thing to introduce something new? And if something new is brought in with perfect execution which gives the audience a 'movie in theatre' experience, why it would be criticized.

The makers should rather be encouraged.

Moreover and the most importantly, the story of rudra and paro demands such scenes. I mean, all that Rudra is doing is preparing the audience with something more scary in respect of his journey with Paro. Plus it would be worth following the transformation of his character or unfolding of Paro's character and life in line with Rudra's avatar.

I find the matter similar to Ghajini.. It was true that it showed too much violence and actions, but then if you put it with the pain and loss that the ML suffered, the violence would not look unbearable anymore..

In RR too, compared to Rudra's inner torture and suffering, these are really nothing. If you want to understand the character, you would be able to find the reasons behind his behavior.

And the audience in India should be that matured by this time to relate the actions of a lead with his character graph.

Very nicely written! Personally I don't watch action movies...just can't stand them. But never once did I feel that whatever action was shown was OTT or unnecessary. All these things are necessary for the viewers to understand who and how Rudra is! He's ruthless...full of hatred...he's posted on the border 247!
The show gives me a movie like feel and that's a huge achievement for the makers!

I don't understand where did we witness violence...it was just an army officer dispensing his duties. And frankly speaking this is much more acceptable to be than soaps where kitchen politics is everything...and a mockery is made of relationships. I am really enjoying this serial. 😊

Yes, because it set me thinking and I wanted to write this. And you are so right! I think this is just the beginning...there will be a lot more violence, physical, emotional, pschological before we come to journey's end. I for one am looking forward to it.

Exactly the point!! I too avoid action/violent films. But this one didnt feel OTT or contrived or forced or unnecessary even for a minute. Of course , that could well be because I was too busy watching Rudra and sighing away 😆 but really, jokes apart, doesnt it blend in perfectly and take the story perfect? can you picturize Rudra politely tapping those guys on the shoulder and saying
'Excuse me sir, hope I am not interrupting but its really not pleasant for you to be doing this, and I so would appreciate it if you handed over the girl to me??'
or
" Forgive my impertinence, but you see I am supposed to defend this border. And if its not awfully inconvenient, could you please do me a huge favour and not cross it all the time, It sort of upsets my delicate digestion. Of course, if you insist I wont mind at all and will look the other way while you are at it"
ROFL...🤣 sorry, I know you shouldnt laugh at your own jokes, but I couldnt help it...ha ha ha...
