Her palm hit the snooze button again and she rolled back over to her other side, where his warm lips greeted hers and his arms enveloped her body in a welcoming embrace. As her delicate outline strained hard to become one with his rugged exterior, and she put her arms around his waist to eliminate any remaining distance between them; she blushed to think that not that long ago they had been complete strangers unaware of each other's existence. But now the contours of his body were more familiar to her than her own and she couldn't imagine spending a day without tasting his skin or inhaling his breath. He had become her home and she did not wish to be any place else.

This had evolved into the most favorite part of day for both of them, the time between dawn and daylight; which they could spend in relaxed laziness making slow and deliberate love, whispering sweet and often nonsensical words into each other's ear and talk about anything and everything under the sun.

There was nothing to hurry about she thought as she stretched her pleasantly aching muscles and suppressed a yawn.

Sleepy? He enquired softly propping his head up on the pillow next to her, his fingers doodling on her flat stomach.

Hmm, yes. Will you let me, I need some. She pleaded with a smile.

Of course I will, but first I need to know when your clinic starts so I can drop you. I cannot allow you to drive your itsy bitsy car anymore.

What Clinic??!!! She suddenly shot up her back ram rod straight her eyes wide open looking around trying to recall where she was.

Yours my dear or have you forgotten already? He chuckled sitting up bringing his muscular arms around her and planting a soft kiss on her shoulder. By the way I think I told you before, your fair body looks great in the early morning light.

She pushed him away and hurriedly wrapping a satin sheet around her rushed to the bathroom muttering;

Damn you! Why didn't you tell me earlier? It starts at 8:30 but I promised to meet Dr K there at 7, so he could brief me on everything before he left.

But you never asked me to sweetheart and I have always admired your superior memory in such matters. Anyway wake me up when you are ready; I am going to have a snooze. He plopped back in bed and promptly fell into a deep sleep.

I should have known, docs start their days much earlier than architects' do and anyway I have yet to find an office to go to.

He shot a glance at the wall clock and found its hands stuck at a quarter past 4; it needed to be refueled. He picked up his cell phone and was for a minute arrested by the picture of his wife looking up to the heavens, her face bathed golden by the evening sunlight; it never failed to leave him enchanted. The digital clock read 9:30.

Was it that late? But the sun really hadn't come out yet.

She had gone out in this weather and that too in that little beetle of a car? She would never make it through. He should have anticipated it'he knew her well enough by now.

He closed the doors and noticed that the rain had already made a large puddle on the floor, it was coming down with a vengeance.

He needed to find out how she was first; he dialed her number, but then changed his mind; if she picked up it may cause an accident, that was something he didn't want to think of.

He decided to call the clinic...

After several rings; it was finally answered by a voice which sounded distinctly familiar and it said;

Dr Krishnan and Dr Agarwal's clinic, this is Nurse D'souza, what can I help you with? And is baarish mein would you rather not stay at home'

Shaan couldn't help but smile despite his anxiety, the weather was so bad that it was making clinics turn away their patients. Or did it mean something else?

Uh Hi Nurse D' Souza! I am Shantanu Khandelwal, did my wife, I mean did Khanak, sorry did Dr Agarwal reach the clinic yet? He had his eyes closed and fingers crossed.

But she was a kind soul and he didn't want to hurt her; so taking a deep breath he replied in a controlled voice; Dear Nurse D'Souza, who can ever forget you; the most charming woman I have ever met and if it hadn't been for my Khanak I'd have seriously contemplated snatching you away from under your husband's nose.

He heard a sharp surprised intake on the other side... he hadn't lost his touch. He pitched in quickly before she could speak; Is my Doc there now? She left at least 2 hrs ago..I think (hesitant)

No, not yet! Dr K waited for her for a long time and just left. He had to leave see, his wife is very ill with..

He ended the call, not bothering about how she felt...

Sh#*!! Banging his hand against the counter. It is my entire fault! I shouldn't have fallen asleep; I shouldn't have let her go. If she is stubborn; I should have been more. Now where will I find her?

He grabbed his keys, quickly pulling on a shirt.

Maybe I should give her a call first, just in case'

It was lying on the counter, with his own face winking back at him;

He prayed silently before racing out and down the stairs; and then ran bang into a tall thin girl who was walking up and nearly knocked her over;

Sorry am in a hurry, I hope I didn't hurt you, He made sure she was standing before continuing down the stairs taking them two at a time.
