Part 5.
Shantanu thought for a second…………. before eating the poha and finally decided to trust Khanak and ate it.
He felt bad that even he had behaved nasty with her and thought that he would apologise again for his rude words and harsh behaviour.
After having poha, he kept the plate in the kitchen and went to his room……… Duck had left today afternoon itself for Germany to take care of his company's collaboration project for 3 months.
Shantanu tidied the bed and dropped on it thinking about the day that passed……….his interaction with Khanak…………. his singing career………….his time in Mumbai…… and soon drifted to sleep…………completely oblivious to the little nuisance creator in his drawing room who he had not seen………
Khanak paced back and forth in her room…………….and stood by the window………
She had this weakness………………after every mischief done by her, she felt bad about it. Initially she would act impulsive but later regretted as she was basically a nice person. And, Now she was feeling pathetic for leaving that cat in his home and was worried……
'I shouldn't have done that………………the cat will make his home a mess and the fight between us will go on increasing………..'
'What if……………..he kills the cat…………..or kicks it……………..' Oh No !!!
'Poor cat………………"
Poor guy, he will do all the cleaning now…………'
'Whatever…………….' She shrugged to ward off her own guilt feeling and tried to justify herself, 'Serves him right………….. he will remember for his entire life that he messed up with 'Khanak'…………when he cleans the 'shit' tomorrow……… and will next time, think twice before opening his mouth when in front of girls…………'
She tried to sleep, but somewhere deep down, she knew that she had over-reacted……
Around 3.00 am in the morning, Khanak's sleep was disturbed with some movements on the upper floor. Their were sounds of steel utensils falling down with a loud noise and someone moving……….
Her heart started beating hard……..
Shantanu had woken up due to the sound of the pan falling on the floor………. He had got up and rushed to the kitchen…………….only to see the little cat coolly enjoying the spilt milk and it's leftover in the pan on the ground………….with that she had jumped on some other utensils too, making them all fall on the ground.
Shantanu looked around in the drawing room…………..the cat had messed with the cushions, sauce bottles on the dining table………..making a few spill on the table and 2 of them had broken after falling on the ground and the contents were spread on the floor.
Cat darling had attended to all nature's calls on the carpet and the floor……..
Shantanu took his hand on his forehead and tried to cool of the extreme anger that had started boiling from inside………..
He wanted to kick the cat but as he turned towards her, she looked at him, squeezed her eyes and did a cute 'Meeeooowwwhhh'…………..!!!
Shantanu smiled and slowly stepped ahead and picked up the animal………..took her in an embrace and headed for the door.
He pressed the doorbell for Mrs. Patkar's house.
A sleepy Mrs. Patkar opened the door……….with a confused look.
"Mrs. Patkar, please take care of your baby………….aren't you worried she is not home till 3.00 in the morning………"
"Ohh My darling !!" Mrs. Patkar exclaimed, "Thanks Shantanu, you are a sweetheart. But why is she with you? That girl from 10th floor, Pooja's friend…………she said she is taking her and will keep my baby with herself today……….so, I gave it to her………. anyways, thanks for bringing her to me…………hope she was not a problem to you…….."
"Oh No Mrs. Patkar……………not at all…………she is a darling………..problem is something else………,"he replied gritting his teeth, "Good night."
Mrs. Patkar closed the door and Shantanu was back to his home.
He tried hard to control his anger but the moment he saw the condition of Duck's drawing room and kitchen………… his frustration re-surfaced and he was once again boiling in anger.
He tried to pick up some pan and some curry, spilled on the slab stained his shirt too………He changed his Tee- shirt, slammed the door in anger and took the lift for 10th floor………
'Gosh…………………I'll kill her……………..' he was totally irate !!
'She had entered this door when she came that day to pick up her phone……… so she lives here…………….she is some monster-in-a -girl's-form………..'
He pressed the doorbell……….
He didn't have to wait much as Khanak had been awake listening to the sounds from the above floor……………she rushed to open the door so that Gangu Bai and other PGs are not disturbed…………
She knew it was him but had not expected him to come down at this time of the night to fight with her……..
'Oh God !! Please, please, please help me………………..please………..donno what he will do………..'
She was worried, scared and anxious when she opened the door………. And found him standing at the door………..in his Tee and shorts………..grim face………completely outraged and fuming.
She tried to speak to apologise but even before she could say a meek, "Hi !!"……..she was extremely shocked as he stepped ahead………..bent a little and scooped her in his arms……..
"Hey………..what are you doing? Put me down……….."
"Shut up !!" was his response, so angry that she actually kept quiet.
He moved out closing the door and took stairs for eleventh floor.
"I said, put me down………….where are you taking me…………put me down or I will shout…………" she spoke and tried hard to wriggle out of his hold but he had held her tightly and did not respond at all………..
She was surprised at the strength he possessed as he lifted her very easily like a rug - doll and not only he carried her to next floor through stairs but did it without any crease on his forehead…………he was swift and confident and in some quick steps they reached up.
"Put me down…………..I am really going to shout……." She tried again.
He took her inside his house and slammed the door shut.
She shivered and felt her heart beat rising……………she was very worried by now……
"Why did you bring me here……………..are you even listening to me," her tone rose due to nervousness and anxiety………..
'What is he going to do now………..oh my God. I should have thought before doing such stupidity………… God please save me……'
She almost trembled.
He put her down………..and pinned her to the on the wall……….
Immediately, she tried to turn away and go out………….but he was quick enough to put a hand on the wall blocking her way………..
She could just stare at him in terror !!
"Don't try to move…………..Keep standing here…………..or you can't imagine, what I will do………"
"Let me go…………….you 'jerk'………" she tried to push him away but he didn't relent.
"I didn't bring you here to let you go………." His tone was grim and face taut …… and she could see his jaw clenched……..as he held her tightly.
"Then??" she asked helplessly, noticing that she was trapped between the wall and him and she had already seen his strength just now…………he must be spending good 2-3 hours in gym………..there was no escape…………..she thought…….losing hope.
"Clean it."
"Excuse me ?????"
"I said –CLEAN THE MESS………!!!!!!!!!!"
"Whattt ??????????"
"Do you have some hearing problem too?" he spoke in a frustrated tone…….looking at her eyes and making her feel the intensity of being so near to him……
She gulped, embarrassed, "No, I mean…………..you kidnapped me at 3.00 am in the night to clean your house?"
"I wouldn't have done it……………but 'you' forced me to……………….. I am NOT going to pay for your adventures…... how dare you leave a cat in my home………??"
She was shocked to the extent of becoming speechless…………she had been scared and was nervous to be brought like a luggage to his apartment………….her own size, strength and courage was nothing compared to him………..she had imagined the worst………and here he was ………..worried that she had left a cat in his home and 'who' would do the cleaning…….!!!!!
"Hello……….." he waved a hand in front of her eyes and shocked face, "I'm talking to 'YOU'……..
"Yeah………………am listening………"
"Do you think you will do all this mischief and go away scott-free………….can you see the mess………who will clean it?" he almost shouted.
"I will do it………" she said happily…………..smiling ear to ear………confusing him.
"Come again………….why are you so happy with the cleaning part?" he couldn't get her glee.
She smiled again, "You won't understand…………..where is the washroom??……….I'll take the bucket of water………." She walked away beaming with joy and he was left completely clueless………
'You were right Shaan…………she is MAD…………and………she is CRAZY…………!!'

She took the duster, broom and filled the water bucket in the washroom……..He stepped near the washroom to have a look and offered to lift the bucket for her……..
She smiled again, thanking him………………….and he was confused again……..!!!
He helped her by lifting the bucket till the drawing room and she cleaned the mess in the kitchen and the drawing room………lifting broken stuff and cleaning the dining table and the couch and the rugs………
While he sat on one chair and observed her…….!!
"By the way…………Why did you leave that cat here?" he spoke softly.
"You know it…………don't you?" she replied wiping the dining table.
"I spoke harsh words when the lift was at your floor and before the door closed……." He suggested.
"So, you know that………." she smiled and after finishing everything, went to the washroom to wash her hands.
"You forced me to speak that ways…………" he spoke a little loudly, from the drawing room, defending himself.
"I really thought you were talking with your friend about 'me'………." She came out after washing her hands.
"You are not supposed to listen to other people's conversation…….."
"Why not? You had already fought with me twice………in the morning……….and in the evening………."
They walked outside the apartment and went towards the lift……….
"Hello…………a correction there…………I did not fight…………..YOU fought with me………"
"Yeah I know I over-reacted…………. I was very ill – behaved……"
"Even, I'm sorry………………I could have been a little patient……….."
They reached her floor and he stood till she opened the door.
"Anyways, thanks for dropping me back………."
"I had taken you up in the most brash manner…………….I had to drop you back………. ……………anyways…………thanks for cleaning the house……….."
"It was my fault totally……………sorry, for messing up your day………."
"It's okay………….even, I should have been a little more mature………by the way…….
Can I ask something?"
"What?"
"I expected you to shout and fight when I took you up…………. Why were you so happy?"
"That's a secret………."
"I want to know……….."
"Maybe, sometime later……………."
He twitched his lips in confusion…….
"And………………I'm really sorry…………..I don't know why but I am cranky today…………….I feel bad actually……….fighting with someone who is completely an unknown person…………I mean, I don't even know your name…….. and ……….. I……….."
"Shantanu…….."
"Hmm……..??"
"My name is Shantanu……….. and now you can fight with me without feeling guilty about it……….."
"If you are trying to ask my name………….I won't tell you………"
"You need a psychiatrist……………….seriously………..believe me…………………"
