You've seen actors like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan steam up the big screen, time and again, by flaunting their hot bods. And now it seems that our men on the small screen too are fast catching up, when it comes to showing off fab abs. The daily soaps now boast of their own fair share of skin show.
Gurmeet Chaudhry (Geet), Angad Hasija (Phulwa), Gautam Gulati (Pyar Ki Yeh Ek Kahani), Karan Tacker (Rang Badalti Odhani) are some of the actors who've dared to bare on the small screen. While some like Nikkhil Chaddha (Miley Jab Hum Tum), Karan Singh Grover (Dil Mil Gaye) and Mrunal Jain (Bandini) hadonly done one or two such scenes in the past, of late an increasing number of male actors are regularly being shown bare-chested on TV.
A producer of one such show says that the great response, thanks to the skin show, has now prompted many actors to bare on screen. Nikkhil admits, "Nowadays most actors have well-toned bodies and if you have a fit body, I don't see any harm in showing it."
Karan agrees. "The focus is for once shifting from the women to men. It's quite flattering," he smiles. Angad adds, "It's good that men are getting as much attention as the women now."
As for upping their own fan following, the actors do admit that their fan mails and friend requests on the internet have almost doubled since they went bare-chested. And the actresses are taking no offence either. "What's the harm in women having some eye candy on TV?" reasons a popular actress. "In fact, it's now good to see men having to wear low-cut shirts for a change," says another.
