Rooj,

Completely understand and respect your views......

My only concern and gripe to the CVs.....ShaNak's characterization has gone for a complete toss, time and again!!!

Khanak just watched from the sidelines during the Rock On fiasco, and Shaan's character assasination is legendary by now!! 😆

My simple rationale.......KT and Yashu are briliant actors!!! Undoubtedly, RBO has given them the much-needed platform to showcase their talent, but would like to believe that KT-Yashu's sense of loyalty and their conscientiousness has definitely played a huge role in RBO's success story!!

And why do I say so???

Even when RBO dropped, ShaNak did not!!!

Hence, this sense of loyalty that thesetwo young actors possess in today's manipulative times, needs to be recognised, if not felicitated.....

And the least the CVs can do in doing so, is to take the ShaNak story to the next level.....

The growth in theircharacterization being the key to the same!!

while you make an excellent point d, i have a question. what is the actual problem here? shaan's characterization or his reduced screen space? coz' i am getting the feeling that it might be the latter, because shaan and Khanak's characterization has been weak since the longest time now, so why this sudden outburst? screen space would inevitably vary. that's how TV shows work.

not only during Rock On but also during dhulwadi and the pregnancy track the scale was leaning more towards shaan and KT. we watch RBO for shanak and yasharan, so when one gets the limelight, we feel happy for them and give them space. CVs never keep up this routine for long anyway. they come back to 'shanak' sooner or later.

YM/khanak is not being preffered over shaan like it's being suggested. she is after all the female lead. she would and should get this much footage. but yes, rahul's story might be responsible for less shaan, which is very wrong, since the latter is the male lead and not the former. so instead of making it shaan vs. khanak or only about shaan or only khanak, let's make it about shanak.,

Hey Doc D, another thought-provoking post!
Here's where i stand on the matter... (will be more Shanak than Shaan)
I actually have no objections regarding the current track, because it means that the focus is on the K family who i personally love! Although there is slightly more focus on Khanak right now, as long as Shanak tackle the issues together, i'm ok with that too. But I won't deny that my heart craves for a good storyline for Shanak....
I think part of this comes down to their turbulant past which was so beautifully written and portrayed by all involved. And also because i (and am guessing most of you too) hold Shanak very close to my heart, so naturally i want a storyline worthy of the characters and the talented actors who play them.
Asking for a solid storyline for our lead pair is not asking for much in my opinion. I'm not saying this to have a go at the CV's because after all, it's them we have to thank for giving us Shanak in the first place. But i'm saying the above points with KT, YM and the entire RBO unit in mind. If they keep showing a disjointed storyline, then everybody suffers - not just the audience.
By spending a little more time working on the direction of the show i.e. Shanak's journey, the CV's could once again have a show that leaves the audience captivated. And what could be better for the RBO team to know that all their hard work and effort is appreciated and rewarded?
After a couple of days of what feels like banging my head against a brick wall, i just want to take this opportunity to once again thank the CV's for our awesome twosome. I have every faith that you guys will do justice to the show we all love so much...
P.S. I love your name, very unique! Left you a reply in the sr thread created by Creative_1 but wasn't sure if you had seen it so thought i'd mention it here. 😊

Zennie,

Am glad you raised the question you did.....
Seem to increasingly get the feeling that somewhere down the line, the very purpose of my post is getting lost.....the basic goal of starting this thread is being lost sight of!!!
The issue here is two fold....Shaan's deteriorating characterization and his decreased footage, in the context of the former!!!
But to suggest that Shaan's downhill screen space is at the cost of Khanak's increasing footage would be quite juvenile, if not ludicrous, in my opinion....
As you have very rightly indicated, it has and always will be about ShaNak/ KT-Yashu for us......our forum coming out in unanimous support for ShaNak during the unwarranted poll being a testament to the same!!
But, if I have decided to start a separate thread, crying out for the Shaan of yore, I obviously have my reasons for the same.....
Shaan's character has been at the receiving end for the longest time now....first the MMS crap, then the complete mockery of an issue as grave as infidelity.....no amount of pregnancy 'screen space' can ever redeem those unresolved issues!!! So, isn't the resurrection of Shantanu Khandelwal, in fact, long overdue??
Moreover, as almost all of us would agree, if our love for Shaan has not diminished despite the sacrilege committed, it is largely due to KTs superlative histrionics!! 👏
Hence, it is only fair and deserving of KT, to have us Odhanians cry out for the Shaan, who left an indelible imprint in our hearts from April to November, 2010.
Would like to take this opportunity to once again re-emphasise that the current Sasha track, with Khanak at the centre of it all, is not the issue......the issue here is just for how long, is Shaan gonna be trapped in the crossfire between a jagrata and a party???!!!!
The guy needs to get a 'life' and fast!!
The dining area moment yesterday (16th April 2011) was a good touch....let the CVs build on that....go a step further....let Shaan go out there, into the real world....earn himself a living.....his screen time will cease to matter....at least; we will take heart from the fact that if he's not on screen, he's at least toiling his b--- away!!

No one pitted Shaan against Khanak. That could be so unpleasant for the show which we all love.As Doc said its abt Shnatnau's characterization!

Ads quoted some examples.Very valid ones.Where is that Shantanu Khandelwal? What happened to his intensity? What he has been doing recently was just comedy though he excels nothing beats him being angry, emotional, intense and passionate.

We talked so much about Shaan being grown up and all after SR 2 but then we see him playing the most stupidest of pranks.Shantanu even before SR 2 would never do that!

MMS track was great till Tere Zikr. After that downhill for Shantanu again.Shantanu pre-ILU one would never ever have behaved this way.He would have been insecure, jealous and more importantly guilty which he never was in this track!

DocD!

A very thoughtful post! 👏👏👏

Agree with you 100%

You have said everything!

I request CVs instead of asking whom we like most , just answer the questions DocD has raised.

That is all I have to say!

@bold: you hit the nail on the head there Doc D! I mentioned this in another post of mine, and it's the thing that grates on me the most.
I don't really want to bring Rahul's character into this, as the guy gets enough disapproval from viewers (including myself) as it is - and i really feel bad for Manish - but i truly believe that to justify Rahul's existence in RBO, Shaan's character takes a beating time and time again!
Some examples:
1. Introduction of Shaan's friends: on the one hand he's pestering Khanak to say ILU because he needs to hear her say it, and on the other the guy completely loses his lid when she so much as mentions his past! He was quite mean to her with no good reason in my opinion. The build-up to Rahul's entry was too dramatic, and that too for such a lame reason! The CV's first mistake.
2. MMS fiasco: how the creatives thought showing Shaan forgive Rahul for this was a good idea i do not know! But something tells me they knew they had made a mistake with Rahul's characterisation and were aware of his growing unpopularity. Perhap's they thought if they showed Shaan forgiving and accepting him, we would too. The CV's biggest mistake.
The passive Shaan we got to see during the infidelity issue i feel was done for the same reasons. Personally, i was looking forward to an insecure Shaan, a guilty Shaan and a jealous Shaan, but alas it wasn't to be!
Unlike Rahul's character, i don't think it's too late to resurrect Shaan's and the dining room scene in yesterday's episode is proof of that. Though their interaction was minimal, the way Shaan responded to the insult's thrown Khanak's way was enough to melt my heart, bless him!
Oh and did i mention that i love KT for carrying off Shaan's character the way he has? Even when Shaan doesn't have a substantial scene or dialogues, the way this guy delivers is praiseworthy! 👏
For now i'm going to ride it out. As mentioned in my previous post, i'm putting my faith back into the CV's to deliver a strong storyline for our lead pair. I don't ever want them to come here and feel as though we don't appreciate all the hard work they put into the show, but at the same time think criticism like this is invaluable to them.
CV's just so you know, our love for KT/YM, Shanak and RBO will not waver, but please work on the storyline... 😳

I totally agree with Doc.D.. What pains me most is... there is a character and an actor who has drawn us to the show... got us addicted to it with sheer acting abilities, intense emotions and loads of passion.... and today he is limited to a mere prop ( sorry to use this word)...

The side characters of the show seem to have a more meaningful storyline rather than Shaan who is just running behind his wife... just because we all went gaga over their SR2 doesnt mean all we want is a Shanak romantic scene every once in a while and we are happy...

If Khanak has to deal with Sasha, Shaan for sure deal with with Rahul now working for the Khandelwal group.. it would be nice to show him trying to figure out how he can build his future...

If they feel they want to concentrate on Khanak Vs Sasha now, they can atleast give KT a break.. show a scene where there is a problem in the Dhulwadi factory and so he has to go away for a few days and give that poor chap a break.. rather than have him for a breakfast scene applying butter on his bread!!😡

@blue: Phew!! What a poignant journey down 'Shaan' lane that was....
That Shaan was truly something else!!
Hence it pains me no end, when the same Shaan is just shown, whiling away his time doing nothing noteworthy in particular!!
They give us glimpses of the Shaan of yore via those sporadic moments....the ShaNak conversation by the beach......the Shaan of SR2 who without a trace of doubt, had progressed to the next level.....
Am not even sure if we shall ever get the Shaan we unanimously grew to love, back again, but will still hold on....
For Shaan's sake....for Khanak's sake....for ShaNak's sake.....for Our sake.......

More of the missing Shaan:

The Shaan who took up the task of earning money for Khanak and completed business projects successfully with Khanak's help
The Shaan who fights with his dear bhabhi Khushboo and teaches her English so that she is not ill-treated by anyone not even his mother

The Shaan who stands by her in front of Mangal and his wife

The Shaan who loves music to the core, so much that he lies to Khanak and sings in Duck's cafe
Shaan who had promised Khanak that he will earn money and support her like all husbands
Shaan who is rough on Khanak as well demanding her love through so many scenes
 1. Where he asks if she was ok with Natasha saying ILu to him
 2. the demanding of ILU words from her,
 3. the jealous Shaan angry with Khanak when Sooraj's look alike spends the night with her

Now all he does is say sorry for something wrong that he does to her, why????

Shaan should be doing something
better, for an earning rather than just hanging around his wife and arranging the bar for the Khandelwal party .... pls spare us the humiliation being thrown at Shaan's character now-a-days

We need the old rough and tough Shaan back, who is physically and emotionally strong and loves his wife to the core!!!

~Cheers,
Dish

Anu,they can't do that cos for everyone RBO is ShaNak.We might whine and moan and complain and all but in the end would do more so if ShaNak are not seen in a single frame.Personally I wouldn't want to watch it.Just want something to be happening on their front,a track possibly.May be this is the norm as seen in every serial.

For me main gripe is the way they play with Shantanu's character. He was so drastically changed in the ROCK ON track and ruined in Sunny track.Hope Karan gets something better to do in this track, instead of as you said just buttering the bread lol.
