hey guys!

i am posting a new topic after the longest time. have been busy with exmas and all. i trust evryone is doing well and enjoying the show? 😊

i loved yesterday's shanak scene like everyone else! duh! it was indeed beautiful! subtle yet endearing! innocent and vulnerable! just like shanak! everyone has written beautifully about the significance of shaan dressing up khanak and how this SR was different and if i might add better than the first. all the romanticisms have been so nicely covered, that being the non romantic that i am, i won't even try to give my take on that! lol.

i decided to make this post because yesterday, for me, was yet another milestone in the story i-e RBO as i perceive it. shanak are the jaan of the show no doubt and i go ga ga over their chemistry just like everyone else but the reason i started watching this show was not the romantic story but the concept of widow ship that it took up and the way they have taken it forward. thus, yesterday's sindoor scene made me think about the last two times when khanak maang was decorated with the same. let's go through all three one by one.

When Sooraj Filled her Maang:

the khanak in that scene is like an exuberant child who is just cherishing the feeling of getting 'married' to her childhood sweetheart without really caring about what significance the vermilion actually holds in a woman's life. it's just part of 'getting married' for her. a mere ritual. one of the rasams which would lead her to her love and probably nothing more.

When Shaan filled her Maang:

we see a marked difference here in khanak's expressions. when shaan puts the sindoor on her, she closes her eyes in pain as if it almost hurts her head. she has lost the right to put in on once and knows what that might mean for a woman and yet the filling of her maang a second time holds no significance for her whatsoever because the man who's putting it on does not occupy any place in her heart yet. so even though the rituals might bind her to him, she still thinks of it as a necessity that has to be observed and not something she cherishes.

When Shaan filled her Maang yesterday:

and then yesterday, when once again in all her bridal glory, her husband again fills her maang with the color which marks the status of the suhagaan. this time it's different from the first two times. here khanak not only understands the significance of the sindoor for a woman but is able to cherish it with all her heart. the way khanak basks in her husband's love and admiration, to her escaping emotions when her maang is filled and finally just before the scene fades, we see her yet again looking at shaan with a volcano of all the emotions she is feeling at the moment. for shaan, it was decorating the object of his affection to his liking, enveloping her in his love and admiration. for khanak, it went beyond than that. much deeper than that. she has finally risen out of the dark realms of her past, the shadows of her past beings and come out as a suhaagan in the true sense of the word.

finally the khanak i know and love completed her journey from a girl to a wedded bride. the story i follow completed yet another chapter. the girl i have come to admire ascended yet another ladder.

special mention to YM for her Brilliant expressions yesterday. she had not one audible dialogue to deliver and yet it felt like khanak said so much, rather everything. she is truly one of the best actresses on tv today and i can't reinforce it enough! 👏⭐️

i would like to dedicate one of my favorite ghazals sung by one of my favorite singers Nayyara Noor to the endearing character of khanak and all the girls like her that she represents.

Khwaab marte nahin
dreams never die
Khwaab dil hain na aankhein na saansein ke jo
dreams are not like the heart, the eyes or breath
Rezaa-rezaa hue to bikhar jayein ge
that they would easily shatter and scatter

Jism ki maut se yeh bhi mar jayein gey
dreams don't die with the death of the body

Khwaab marte nahin
dreams don't die
Khwaab to roshni hain, navaa hain, hawa hain
dreams are like light, air and sound
Jo kaale paharon se rukte nahin
thus even tall mountains can't obstruct their way
Roshni aur navaa aur hawa ka alam
and dreams are sound, air and light
Maqtalon mein pohanch kar bhi jhukte nahin
you can't bend them according to your own will

Khwaab to harf hain
dreams are words
Khwaab to noor hain
dreams are like the Divine Light
Khwaab to suqraat nahin
dreams are the the path to success
Khwaab mansoor hain
dreams denote victory and Divine Aid

Zennnnn... lovely.. beautiful... words take their leave of absence today...😳
As I posted yesterday and it left me feeling like that.. when he decked her with the jewellery and his love... as she spoke millions of words with her eyes....
At last when he fills her maang she sighs with this expression...
Again.. once again... Hui main parineeta...

i know it was ethereal. everyone covered all the love story bits and romantic angles so well, i wanted to put in a different angle. the widow to bride angle, which is why i started to watch the show.

Zennyyyyyyyy
This is for you and your lovely post: 🤗
I open the post expecting something else and this beauty is what I get.

Also another significance of sindoor for Shaan: He was marking her for himself. She was his and no one else's
You know today Beeni sent me the written update of ShaNak's wedding and comparing that to yesterday just took me back to the significance of the entire sequence yesterday!

Like you said YM didn't have a single dialogue yet we felt everything that Khanak was feeling-apart from the whole acting aspect I loved the creative aspect of it, the contrast between HIS vocalizing and realizing and HER feeling and existing.Sigh.

Khwaab marte nahin
Khwaab dil hain na aankhein na saansein ke jo
Rezaa-rezaa hue to bikhar jayein ge
Jism ki maut se yeh bhi mar jayein ge

This verse especially strikes a chord within me for ShaNak because it alludes to the whole death of Suraj and a young girl's dreams for herself. The colour of the dreams might have changed but they remained. And are fulfilled.
Meri jaan this was why I missed you!

P.S: Yesterday was the third time we had Shaan filling her maang! Third wala bhi likho and compare it to yesterdays!

very beautiful post and very touching... very reflective of Khanak's journey,.,

I shall add this to balance your post with a Shaan holding Khanak's hands...(through the white curtains...signifying the purity (vaishu's word) of their relationship)...the essential highlight-- in their journey's turning points..

Shaan holding Khanak's hand has gone from....

tum hi tho ho jiska haath thamna chahta hoon------ Kuch Khaas hain

Maine tumhara haath thaama hai, choodhake tho dikaho...--------------- Chori Chori

Tum kahin bhi jao...yeh haath tumhe thamenge...------------------ In lamhon ke daman mein..

on a side note...you missed some great discussions at CC yesterday..😃...hope your exams are going well..all the best!!
