Noon
Shaan: I should probably warn you, your quick wit is a complete turn on to me! (flicking her earring with his thumb)
Khanak: I should employ it more often then? (smiles disarmingly)
He approaches her.
Ritu yells from inside, "Mystery, have you seen my brown bag?"
He steps back politely, letting her pass.
Khanak: Living room mein hai!, (she sifts thru the tens of things lying on the sofa and finds the bag)
Shaan: People address me as Gujral, do they call you Mistry? (smiles)
She hands the bag to Ritu and is back.
Khanak: Nahi, sirf Ritu, she calls my m-y-s-t-e'r-y, coz I am such a enigma!
Blushes when he looks at her deeply!
Shaan: You mean even Ritu does not know many things about you?
She looks down at his socks, the Nike swoosh''.. "Not really!" (softly)
They both are doing their favorite activity, just quietly looking at each other, when Ritu walks out "Abhi radio ka volume zyaada nahi hai?" (unaware of the crackle) Ritu turns it down
Khanak walks into the kitchen, gets plates and spoons out and sets it on the coffee table, he picks up the things on it and sets it gently on the divan. She nods in a "thanks".
Khanak: Breakfast to khayegi na?
Ritu: Kyon mera hissa toone Shaan ko khila diya kya?
Khanak is mortified, "Nahi to!, main to apna hissa unke liye bacha rahi thi" (laughs)
Shaan scoffs " Right!"
There is a very comfortable dynamic in the room, Khanak serves, Ritu brings the pickle out, Shaan pours water.
They talk about work, weather, commute to and from Chembur. Ritu whines about locals and how all her cotton suits look like crap when she gets into work.
Khanak: Aap driver ko laaye?
Shaan(confused) Kyon?
Khanak: Would he like to eat? (sincere)
Shaan is amazed at her simplicity, he has not had one of his girlfriends ever ask him if his driver ate.
Shaan: He usually eats outside while waiting Khanak (gratified)
Khanak: Oh!
Ritu is sitting on the sofa with Shaan, Khanak is on the divan on his side. She signals asking him for second helping, he extends his plate, Ritu notices the unspoken cues, smiles to herself, the bowl is still a lil warm, Shaan places his hand underneath hers, without touching hers, in case she accidentally lets go.
She wants more water, there is none in the bottle.
Ritu: Shaan paani lekar aaogey?
Shaan: Sure!
Khanak rolls her eyes. "Nahi I can get it"
Shaan stops her and brings a bottle, pours some out for her, for some strange reason watches her drink it.
Ritu: Chalo, I will give you a 7/10 for that (setting her plate down and grinning smugly)
Khanak: Abhi kaam par lag ja, main tujhe 10/10 doongi
Ritu: Mere hottie se kaun milega? No! (walking into the back room to grab her bag and phone). Ghar ka kaam tu kar, tujhe to mil chuka jeevan saathi, ab meri baari😆
Khanak: Main mil leti hoon! (casually grinning)
Shaan: I believe you are engaged now? (softly)
She noisily picks up the silverware from the table, accidentally knocking down a half empty glass of water.
Khanak: It would be all pure and unblemished.
Shaan: Don't push it Khanak.😳
Ritu is out. "Wish me luck Shaan! Then all four of us can go out together!" (claps her hand and gushes)😆
Shaan: that would be fun! (laughs)😊
Ritu: My Mom gave me three years to find myself a guy. I feel in love with you at first sight, but Mystery stole you. I gave up and told my Mom to find a guy (open, uninhibited)
Khanak stares at her in shock.
Shaan leans back on the sofa, smiles "You should have told me you were in love with me!"
Ritu: I didn't because I thought I had the time. I was sure you were not her type (smiling at Khanak) Saare din mein who 5 sentences bol le to bahut badi baat hai. She likes to be unobtrusive and sorrounds herself with unassuming people, except me ofcourse!
Ritu: I am making chai, so shut up if you want some (from the kitchen)
Shaan: You are funny, Ritu!
Ritu: I am serious Shaan, yeh tumse kitni baat karti hai mujhe batao?
Shaan looks at her standing in the kitchen, on cue she turns from facing the stove to meet his eyes.
Shaan: Not much! (still looking at her)
Ritu is going through her bag, so misses that exchange.
Ritu: I found it extremely romantic the way you pursued her, what ever little she told me of it (truns to Khanak, who by now is no longer facing the living room) Mystery who story abhi baaki hai, ek mahiney mein poori ho jaani chahiye.
Khanak: What ever!
Ritu: Do you guys have plans?
Their eyes meet again across the house "Don't know!" 😳
Ritu: Good if you do, great if you don't. If you are still around when I return, we can go out to dinner, aur tab main tumhe iski saari embarrassing baatein bataoongi (Khanak brings the chai out)
Khanak: Do that! And all these things will go out the door. All your favorite things go to Ritwik so he can gut it.
They laugh and tease each other some more.
Khanak: Good luck (hugs her warmly)
Ritu: Thanks! Pray he is atleast half as good looking as Shaan. Warna we'll have to exchange!
Khanak: You can have him now! (looking at Shaan)😳
Shaan gives her a "Oh really?" look😳
Shaan makes a call, hangs up, " Ritu, Pradeep is downastairs, he can give you a ride to Juhu"
Ritu: Really? (Hugs him) Thanks! You are the best (walks by the door and picks out a matching pair of sandals)
Looks at Khanak "Isko yahin rakhte hai na?" (winks)😉
Khanak: We can't... he would be too demanding! (for his ears only, tho spoken aloud).😳😳
Shaan: I promise to price myself competitively! 😳(as Ritu lets herself out)
