Hola to my Shanak-ian's ....It has been ages since I last posted ...Like Many, I too developed a cold feet and slunk away when Rock on came on , Unable to withstand the hugr rocks hurled at me , I opted out ....
But recent news, articles, interviews have tempted me again and I again venture into the ever changing colors of the softly,smoothly flowing waters of Odhani.The first news that caught my eye was "THE JOURNEY" ..and as usual my mind drew up a blank ..after fairly ruminating on it for while...My intel began to churn out a few Q's of its own..why "THE JOURNEY" again..there already was a journey once before.. In that journey too Khanak was helped by various strangers, even that journey began on a stationary bus...so what is the difference between "THAT " Journey and the current one ....having pondered on and on and on ..I could only come up with vague surmises.
The essential difference as I see it is in the first instance, Khanak did not belong to Shan, she was deeply in love with Suraj and mourning his death.Her decision to walk out of khandelwal house did not have any emotional connect ,it mounted out of having to salvage her dignity,her pride,her respect . she was not shattered , hurt yes but broken down ..NO !! whereas now, she is emotionally bruised,hurt , her integrity has been doubted and yet she is reluctant to go..There is a hope that Shan might come and stop her..
In the case of Shan, when he set forth to bring back Khanak into Khandelwal fold , He was merely being a good son who was fulfilling his father's orders.He went in search of Suraj's widow and not his wife and he brought back a friend ,while in the current scenario Shan is going out to get HIS wife back ..it will not be a return of Khank with the ghost of Suraj hanging in the background but it will be the return of Khanak after excorsing of the Ghost..the Ghost which was always present between them ..Khanak will return this time belonging only to Shaan, without the painful past hovering over them.
It was interesting to note the reaction of Khandelwal pere . while in the previous journey he had demanded that Shan should fetch Khanak back, This time he left it to Shan..a tacit acknowledgment that Shan has grown up ..that Shan is now a man !!
I was quite intrigued by the color codes of these characters .. white with black overtone for Shan . and lightish green for Khanak ...Are the creatives trying to say that even though Shaan mind and heart has become clouded with anger,bitter and negative thoughts..lurking underneath all this Greyness is still a warm heart encompassing a deep ,abiding and pure love for Khanak..while for Khanak it is the case of rejuvenation,regeneration and Hope !!
