Jaskaran Singh, popularly known as Uday Bhaiyya, of Miley Jab Hum that that went off air last week is back as Dakshish in Rang Badati Odhani on STAR One.

Jaskaran plays an interesting role, where he tries to bring his band members, who had split, together again. Jaskaran speaks about his role and the track that delves into Shantanu's (Karan Tacker) past.

Why did you find the character of Dakshish exciting?

I have just shot my introduction scene inRang Badalti Odhani. This track is about 5 years in the past, when Shantanu was part of a rock band. I witnessed how the band had broken up. Basically, Dakshish is a mix of Saif of Dil Chahta Hai and Purab ofRock On. I try to bring the band members together again because Rahul, played by Manish, has a misunderstanding with me, Shantanu and Sunaina.

Have you watched the show? Your views about it?

Yes, I had seen the show earlier, and quite liked it . I have worked with STAR One for 2 years, and was surprised that I got Rang Badalti Odhani on the day that Miley Jab Hum Tum went off air. Dakshish is a rockstar, but has a funny side like Saif in Dil Chahta Hai. He tries to make a heavy situation light, but is not dumb like Uday of Miley Jab Hum Tum. You will get to see the serious side of Jaskaran as an actor in this show.

How is your rapport with your co-stars in the show?

I have only shot with Karan Tacker. He is just like me and Karan Singh Grover. We are the Yo type guys (laughs). We bonded very well, and I am glad that fans have liked our chemistry. I have not met the others yet but I know Khushboo Kocchar, and hope that I have scenes with her.

Some changes that we can expect to see in the show with your entry?

You can expect to see a lot of fun. Dakshish is a breath of fresh air, as my fans used to say about Uday ofMJHT. I will try and give my role the best that I can.

Your character, Uday, in MJHT was very popular. Is there any similarity between the two roles or are they completely different?

In fact, I was scared that Dakshish may be compared to Uday. Uday is now over, and if my fans feel that I am doing the same thing that I did in Miley Jab Hum Tum, that would be a huge slap on the face of an actor. Dakshish is not negative or the romantic lead, but I had to think about how to differentiate him from Uday. In the show I come from a poor background, and used to work at a caf that I now own. Dakshish can't speak proper English, and I think that is where I and Khanak will connect by messing up the language. I will definitely bring humour to the scenes, but straight-faced humour. I will not be laughing myself, but everyone else will crack up with my one-liners.

Other projects in the pipeline?

Yes, there was another show that I was supposed to do, but then, I am a bad singer like Phoebe and a little like Joey, so I accepted Rang Badalti Odhani. Hopefully, my next show will be on air next month.
