Well.. if pain as an emotion is the reason for many a bard to romance the word... pain has also been the very reason, men and women have evolved better people...
With reference to the story ... Shaantanu... went through pain, and agony... and terrible guilt with him being the unfortunate reason for the death of Suraj.
Khanak , went through the pain of losing a loved one, of losing the life, that she dreamt of, just about got it only to lose it in a blink of an eye; faced the wrath of the society to suffer in pain of the loss... and also to make a choice of doing what is right - save a man's life... even if it meant to marry him... and help him escape the unfair wrath of the rural society...
And there is Natasha... who if at a point in time was the unsuspecting prey to pain that was huge, is now , wallowing in self pity , is the very reason for her own increasing pain...
While Shaantanu emerged from the Shaan, a better person, aware of the right thing and aware of his own self and beliefs, Khanak emerged a woman from the girl she was - aware of life... stronger and ready to face what Life had to throw at her...
It is Natasha , who , chooses in the face of pain, to evade it, avoid it and eventually now succumbs to it... losing her rationale... and well... eventually... would be lost in her pain, and forget to even move on...
Pain is a seductive temptress.... that makes you pine for it so much, that once smitten by it, you crave for the pain so much, you choose to let go of life itself....It is choice between Love and Passion that makes men and women choose Life and well... the tears of pain...
Just a thought on how the three characters have dealt with the pain that was a part of their lives..
Pain, though is the very core of this story and the way the characters emerge dealing with this pain is the very essence of the story!
Just my thoughts...
