I am having a week off from work and I am hence answering yr query in detail.
yeah The opening scene was very nice and refreshing.
btw reg., As to why hetal/magal are bent upon seeing that khanak is not haappy in her new life.
It all starts right from the beginning.
1.hetal /mangal are two greedy people to the core Mangal is too lazy to do any work and sights the limp in the leg to be a reason for that.he always misuses the genuine affection that suraj has for him..I hopet u know that they are not direcly related to khanak but only because of her marriage to suraj.
At the time of khanak's marrriage with suraj .,suraj did not want to take dahej.this irritated both of them as they were hoping for all those artciles etc.,given during dahej which they also can enjoy
2.Hetal pointed this out to suraj and said that the jewellery given to khanak was so light.,but he dismissed that as well.
3.Mangal was also one of the main reason was suraj's death.Like shantanu wanted to get back to mumbai as early as possible from dhulwadi.suraj was the main person who handled the new machinery.Being a newly marrried he was on a holiday.But the desparate that shaan was he wanted to start production with new machinery immediately.He could not bare to wait for some more days.So he asked his manager choksi to chalk out a plan to bring suraj right after marriage.
4. Choksi knew about mangal's greed for money and hence paid him twice/thrice the monthly salary of suraj without suraj himself being aware of it.Mangal took the money and promised that he would send suraj for attending the machinery no matter what.
5. Initially suraj was very reluctant to go.but mangal used harsh tone and suraj did not want any controversy between his mother and mangal(like suraj's mum wanted him to stay back and mangal started opposing it).
6.finally suraj agreees to go and attend the machinery without any arguments.,and the accident occurs after that.So mangal is indirectly one of the main reasons for suraj's death.
7.Khanak comes to know that shaan's negligence was one of the main reasons l for suraj's death(I hope u must have watched the temple scene where shaan confesses that he does not know if he was also responsible for the accident to khanak herself without knowing suraj was khanak's husband.
8.During the funeral khanak removes all her jewels and keeps it aside the body of suraj.but hetal the cunning woman she is just takes it away when every one is busy cyring over.H
Later he even tells khanak that the jewels are simlar to khanak but they are from her maayka.Khanak knows that it is lie.
9.However gopi khanak's nana and friend manages to ge them back later.Khanak sells them and makes provsion for the repair of haveli.This act of losing the jewels irriatates hetal very much.
10.Most importantly shaan was prepared to pay huge amount of moeny as compensation for suraj's death.Khanak being suraj's widow was the one who should decide whther to accept it.
Khanak knew shaan was somehow behind the whole affair of suraj's death and so did not wish to take a single pie from him.This made the couple burst with anger.
11.Mangal/hetal wanted khanak to take huge amaount of moeny as compensation so that they can lead a life of luxury.khanak refusing to take it was a big thorn in the flesh for their enjoyment.So they started vehemently oppsing her and pressuring her to accept.
Now since she has become shaan's wife they fear that she might completely forget all about suraj.,and start getting along too well with shaan.,which means indue course there is no hope for any large amounts of money to them.,because khanak is not their blood relation.
Btw they did not have good motives of taking care of their ada/bhai even if they had got compensation.they just wanted luxurious lifestyle without putting in any work.,so much so that they failed to realise khank.,and thier parents pain.
This mangal/hetal are selfish to the core.
