Hey dears.,
I thought the episode sort of highlighted the mentality of some people (in this case mangal.,hetal and khusboo also to some extent)where they mercilessly obstrructing a young girl khanak from having a new lease of life.
I mean she has every right to go ahead in life and these people expect her not to forget suraj.,and cry in a corner. How ruthless they are to a young girl.
This mangal.,hetal do not want the poor girl to have a normal hubby/wife relationship. They want only money. And they are afraid they would not get that if she got along with shaan.
I really appreciated the cvs work here in projecting how mean and selfish some people are.Do these people mean all through her life she should think of suraj.,sit and cry.
Does she not have a right for moving ahead.
Why should her past be always looked into.
I mean now she can have a happy married life getting over the pas
That in no ways mean she has forgotten suraj. suraj will always be there in memories but she has every right to lead a normal happy married life with shantanu.
Why do not those people understand this.Thank god shaan seems to understand her mind.(atleast for the time being).

Yeah. I want Khank to realize herself that it's okay to move on in life. It's okay to only remember Suraj fondly. It's okay to live in the present, her present is Shantanu. 😃 People like Mangal and Hetal will always be there. But Shanak have to face them head first because they are doing nothing wrong.

really great post.😛
And i agree with ur points,i can't accept what Hetal & Mangal are doing for Khanak just for money! At last she can lives her life & had a happy relationship with her husband & yes she won't forget Suraj as Shaan who won't forget his 1st love:Tashu.
It's interesting to see RBO also for difficultiesof a young widow remarriage topic,cv's are showing it in a fab way.

Shriya - Thank you first for opening a thread on this topic. I guess, while you referred to the characters in the serial, the mentality that those two people depict is that of a large section of the population of India... out ther ein the rural provinces... and surprisingly.. i loved how Gopi represented the other section of the population that wished for the freedom of these sorrow struck widows, and understood their pain and yet were bound by the religious customs and the bindings, taht they have grown to and taught to abide by! Sigh... while we say the world is changing, its a long way before this mindset can change....

I was there on a tour, 2 years back and I know... the mindset, I saw it myself, while the place is beautiful, the very mindset of some of the people there, in the interiors, makes you feel claustrophobic, like your freedom of thought is being chained... and you were struggling to have a different thought... trust me , it was painful, just to endure it... the mental challenge it poses to brace it and stand your ground and not succumb to it is oh so damn demanding and perhaps thats how Gopi feels...The hospitatlity is awesome (they make you feel like a queen) , but their beliefs (some of them) are unnerving to say the least!

My main problem is how selfish thes people are and I am not just talking about money.....Suraj's Aunty was very understanding in this matter.....
I know that Suraj's death is not easy to move on from so soon, but Kanak doesn't need to feel guilty about re-marrying......Besides the fact that they know what the situation was, for her to marry Shaan....
The old Shaan was right about two things.....The villagers thinking was wrong and time does heal.....

I agree but iwsh to tell u that even the most modern people do not accept these thingslike widow remarriage so easily...
Though the cities are thought to have been changing a lot they are showing that even in the upper most strata of the society they do not welcome this easily.
Like madhvi said to khanak after she saw shaan from the terrace shaan hugging khanak. She said something like good that suraj died he did not have to see ur behaviour etc.,
That too when a husband was hugging his own wife.OMG.Khushboo the other day said khanak itne jaldi suraj ko bhool gayi and settle ho gayi.
In this case both madhvi/khushboo are thought to be among the most modern women. But u can see how their mindset is when it comes to something of change in their own homes involving own people.
on the other hand they have portrayed the uneducated dadima as welcoming khanak with open arms knowing fully well that she is a widow. She infact wants shaaan /khanak to be together. The village aunt also wanted khanak to move on with life though she was uneducated as well.
So ultimately village/town/city it is the mindset of the people and how sensitive they are to other people's feelings.Though in villages it is more prevalent we cannot rule out that it does not exist in cities.
@jaya u are so right. That is why the stories of khanak and geet touch our heart.I think the cvs have done a great job.

Shriya - Agree... I just brought it out more strongly... since in the rural areas, its more prominent, but inthe city, its the psuedo modernism that is prevalent and sometimes it hard to decide which is worse.

Wisdom is something experience brings with it and which Khusboo and Madhavi lack, since their experience has been limited to GYCs and Kitty Parties...u cant help but pity these women for their limited knowledge and awareness
