'Madam it's almost midnight, don't you want to go to bed?'
She looked up and smiled, 'no victor, I won't be able to sleep today, but you should go, it has been a tiresome day for you.'
'Okay madam, um... But Sir has not yet returned, do you think he is coming back today?'
'I'm not sure, but if he returns then I will open the door, you do not need to worry, you can go to sleep.'
'Good night madam.'
'Good night to you too Victor.'
She went back to her work, but couldn't concentrate, her eyes kept drifting to the clock, as the minutes hand kept moving forward.
She heard someone laugh, a girl, followed closely by a flirtatious sounding,' this is my humble abode.'
She sighed; he had brought another girl he had picked up at the bar.
She then heard them come in and move upstairs.
She put her brush down and moved towards the window, a soft breeze played with her hair, but she stood there still, not even blinking once.
*~*~*
He shut his laptop harshly and let out a sigh full of anger and irritation, 'stupid internet!'
He took a deep breath and put his head in his hands, 'damn it!'
He looked at the clock in his office once again, almost quarter to five. He raked his hand through his hair in exasperation, as he got up and walked to the cabinet where he kept his drinks in his study.
'It has been one and half years since the last time I saw you, aur do saal pehle humari…'
He sighed and poured himself a drink, he smiled as he recalled their first meeting, ever since the day he had lost her, he only, truly smiled when he was thinking about her. He had engrossed himself in work, day and night thinking about nothing other than tenders, projects, files to be completed, factories to be constructed, factories to be closed… only these things occupied his mind when he wasn't thinking about her.
' kya tum bhi mere bare main soochti ho? Yaa tum mujhe bhool gayi?'
~*~*~*~
'main aaj bhi sirf tumhare bare main soochti hoon…' she smiled weakly, 'aur kissi ke bare mein soochna bhi… possible hi nahi hai.'
She held herself tighter as a particularly cold wind blew into the room, ' one and half years, mujhe nahi pata maine kaise guzare hai, har pal sirf tumhare bare main soochti hoon.'
She grinned thinking about the moment she realized she was in love with him, as tears swelled in her eyes. 'kya tumhe kabhi realize bhi hua … kya tumne kabhi…' she shook her head, 'main bhi pagal hoon tum toh…'
*~*~*
He took a sip of his scotch and smirked as he remembered the moment he had bid her farewell, 'main saach main burthal nikla, itni late realize kiya ki main tumse pyaar karta hoon. Uss waqt ko yaad karke main aaj bhi apne apko koosta(curse) hoon. Kash maine tab realize kiya hota ki tum mere liye kitni important ho, kash maine uss waqt realize kiya hota ke main tumse pyaar karta hoon…'
He walked across the room to his table and opened his drawer to take out the only remaining photo he had of her. He smiled as he stroked his hand across her smiling face in the frame. 'kash main itna stupid naa hota, kash main tumhe kabhi jaane na deta, kash main tumhe bata pata ke main tumse kitna pyaar karta hoon…'
*~*~*
She wiped the tears that were rolling down her cheeks, as she took a deep breath to calm her senses. It was never easy to talk about him a loud, every time she tried she would cry.
The clock struck twelve and the grandfather clock in her studio rang, indicating the start of a new day, she looked up towards the clouded sky, and closed her eyes for a minute.
*~*~*
He walked slowly towards the window in his room and looked outside, everything was quiet, the darkness was broken by a few shreds of morning light, as the clock struck five thirty. He took a deep breath.
*~*~*
She opened her eyes and whispered, 'happy anniversary Shantanu.'
*~*~*
He looked at the photo that was still in his hands and whispered, 'happy anniversary Khanak.'
