A question

Hey guys, wanna ask you a question. You know some versions of Ramayan and Gita are written in two ways like the verses are first written in Sanskrit language followed by the explanation of these in Hindi. So my question is that when reading it, is it compulsary to read the verses in sanskrit first and then in hindi. or it can be just read the hindi explanation? you see some ppl dont understand the verses in sankrit and hence dont read or it could also be that due to the fear of pronouncing these incorrectly they dont want to read, as it is said that one should pronounce the words correctly when reading Ramayan or Gita. I want to ask this out of curiosity now as there are so many epics that are written in this way, e.g. Ramchritmanas by Tulsidas ji, it's written in sanskrit followed by hindi also Gita is written in the same way.

If you consider Tulsidas's Ramacharitmanas, then it has both Sanskrit and Hindi (actually it is Awadhi - a dialect of Hindi). But what is written in Hindi is not translation of what is written in Sanskrit. The Sanskrit and the Hindi texts contain different things. It was just a style Tulsidas followed.
If you can read entire Ramacharitmanas, then that is very good. Note that the Sanskrit used by Tulsidas is much easier than the one used by Valmiki. So, it is easier to read Ramacharitmanas. But, if for some reason, you find difficulty in reading the Sanskrit verses, then there is nothing wrong if you read only the Hindi text.

hmm first go for Hindi text , it will make u more into Ramayan and then automatically u will def start reading sanskrit. even I m very curious to read Ramayan of diff languages but i can read only eng , hindi n sanskrit 😭

really? I thought whats written in hindi is the translation of the sanskrit version! r u sure about this..well if u have read it. see, i havnt actually but yes do want to know about this.

and yes akhl i do agree with ur answer that if we dont actually understand or can read the sanskrit verses then we can just read in hindi and this applies to when reading Gita as well!

I am also talking about Ramcharitmanas written by Tulsidas!😊 and yes he has used a combination of both languages in there!

Right. And what is written in Awadhi is NOT the translation of what is written in Sanskrit. Both have different meanings.

hey guys....sanskrit is dev vani if u hv prob vid sanskrit den first read it in hindi text but after some time u'll enjoy sanskrit text also....and akhl i dont know your real name...see RAMAYAN by VALMIKI is in AWADHI...n SHREE RAMCHARIT MANAS byTULSI DAS JI is in SANSKRIT....n RAMAYAN was written during d period of RAM JI...i.e. in TRETAYUG.....😜
