The story goes thus....
Queen Kaikeyi gives pieces of ascetic garb to Ram and Laxman and asks them to wear it then and there itself; Ram and Lakshman do so and they don't have any difficulty in wearing them but when Kaikeyi gives it to sita and asks her to wear it; Sita being a princess, who has never wore anything else except silk is so embarassed- not because she's given the acetic garb but she doesn't know how to wear it! plus there are so many people around. In Valmiki Ramayan her situation is described as a ''deer who is alaramed at the sight of entrapment'', this brings tears to her eyes and she tries wearing it on her silk clothes and errs again n again,'siittaa saamumoha muhurmuhuh ' says Valmiki.
She then turns to Rama and asks:'katham nu ciiram badhnanti munayo vana vaasinah?' How do they wear the garb of ascetics?? and her eyes are full of tears coz she doesn't know how to wear it. Then Ram sensing her dilemma immediately comes to her rescue takes those clothes from her hand and then personally fastens them over her silk garments. As a matter of fact the ascetic garments are made of kusha grass
This scene is beautifully portrayed in Valmiki Ramayan, ayodhya Kand chapter 37
It speaks of volumes of love and understanding between the couple and it so happens that everyone present there including King dasharath and guru vashishth are enraged and the women present there weep loudly, this chapter also tells us how much everybody loved and adored Sita; guru Vashistha also says to Kaikeyi that since Sita is not exiled he can order her (sita) to remain back and rule the kingdom!!
I hope this story will be shown in episodes to come.😊
