Ramayana update for feb4, 2008-part1

Rama along with his three brothers are seated in the vojansthan of the asrama, Guru Vasistha is presiding over the table. Gurumata along with other women of asrama are serving the dinner. Guru vashist closes his hands in prayer to god before having the food and all his students and other asramiks do likewise. After that he gives everybody the permission to eat. Rama waits and sees all his brothers have taken their first helping of food, satisfied he himself starts to have his food. Bharat and Satrugna praises the meal and says to gurumata, the food is just like the way their mothers make it. In gurumata and her associates the brothers see the images of their mothers Kaushalya ,kaikeyi and sumitra. Then vivaswan protests and shouts saying no other woman can take the place of someones own mother. Ram protests and says this is not true. Gurudev quenches the quarrel. Later he speaks to rama about vivaswan. He says its only because vivaswan has lost both his parents in childhood that he remains such lost and quarrels with others at the first sight. But in his heat he is a good boy, he only will need time and understanding to grow up.

In the ayodhya palace the following morning, Queens kaushalya kaikeyi and sumitra offers their morning prayers to god and then they offer their prayer to king dasarath.On observing this King dasarath comments that he is their husband and he is supposed to be their friend not their deity. The queens speak in unison that they r ready to leave with the king to offer their puja at Guru vasistha's asrama.The king jovialy comments is it only to offer their prayers or to see their sons that the queens are so excited

At maharishi Vasistha's asrama, the king and the queens offer their puja and as a means of offering, donate 1000 cows to the cause of the asrama. Inspite of sitting infront of the rishi, kaushlaya , sumitra and kaikeyi search among the asramiks their sons. Vaistha stops them and says they are just hampering their child's progress and concentration in studies by unnecessarily spoiling them with excessive care. At their present age, the princes are just doing their duties which is gathering knowledge in every fieldof life and as parents they must encourage them so he cannot allow them to see their children now. They are all fine and in good health.

Disappointed the King begs of the Rishi to tell him what his sons are doing now. Gurudev tells him that they are now performing VIksham(begging which was an important part of lesson that taught the students humility and value of hard work)this makes the king dasarath and his queens very sad
Rama along with his brothers are begging, and everybody coems up to give them Viksha, they stare at the beautiful child in wonder and forget to hand them the prize. Only when rama starts to move away, tehye agerly come across and give them their offerings
Back at the palace, king dasarath and the queens are sitted for the majestic dining.but they cannot grasp and eat, remembering their sons are away begging, how can a mother& father eat. But King Dasrath consoles himself and the totally broken down kaushalya. He says as a partof their duty as king and queen they must look after themselves and their citizens, otherwise their prajas will think they value their sons more over them and their need. Besides all the children are doing is observing their duties. They should not break down for such simple matters.He feeds queen kaushalya and
says her to take the food for his sake. There kaikeyi and sumitra also starts having food.
Kaikeyi is sitting alone and crying , remembering the children. Suddenly manthara appears
and starts her ramblings. She says all these cring and saddenings of kaushalya are just a part of her game plan to pave the way for rama as the king. And no matter how much she cries, king dasarath will never come to her and console her like he did to queen kaushalya.So kaikeyi better watch out. Kaikeyi starts protesting and is counteracted by manthara every time. Atlast mathara says its mantaras duty to look after the well being of kaikeyi and that's why she is here in Ayodhya following kaikeyis marriage to king dasrath. Mantahra , having achieved her goal leaves kaikeyi disturbed and baffled. 🤢

Back at asrama, its raining hard, Rama and all the fellow students are busily herding the cows back to the hermitage. Sudenly vivaswan wonders, that he has nobody to care for and no one will care if he dies. So he decides to end his life by jumping in the river. 😭
Its late night. Laxman And Bharat &Satrugna comes toR to inform him the vivaswan has not yet returned although the vow he was herding has returned long past.
Other students also tells him the same and Ram goes to inform his gurudev.
They all forma search for vivaswan,Breaking in two teams. The teams unite after a long search and tehn Gurudev cries out If vivawan hears him he must respond. Lxman says, maybe vivaswan has fled from the Asrama, but Gurudev says its impossible. He has full faith in Vivawan and in his own teachings.
VIvaswan calls from a long distance.tehy all rush to find vivaswan gurading the entry of the river water.
Vivaswan explains that as he was moving away he saw that the rain has created a hole and the river water was gushing in through it. It was going to flood the Asrama.so he tried to brake the river flow by creating small mud dams. When it did not work, he himself was guarding the whole with his back put their. Guru Vasistha beckons Vivaswan and praises him saying such a student like him is a real pride to a teacher. He bestows him his Asirvad, that he wishes kalyanam for him.
Gurudev orders Ram to take his friends and mend the hole. Later, Ram comes and embraces Vivaswan warmly.

Tan's portscrpit-the episode of vivawan and his the river tide is in fact as fa as I could recall (and from my grandma's story)

a subplot of Rishi Uddalaka nd his Disciple Aruni, Taken from Mahabharata. I had no idea such a thing happened in ramayan too 😉😛😊

NICE! I like it.. yes it takes time to update because it is important to explain everything. And for the younger people it is not always easy to understand everything. So if we do our best with the written updates they can use it as back up and look things up! But you did great! 👏
