In today's episode, after they dealt with the rock-star (details in rakshasha thread), K-L continued to proceed until they came to a tree laden w/ fruits (couldn't make out which). They were overjoyed to find so many, and so they shook the tree for the fruits to fall. In this case, the baba tried to reason with them and persuade them to take only as much as they needed, and leave the rest for others, but they decided that since it was unknown when they would next get such fruits, they decided to take all of them. Failed test#1.

Then the baba went for a bath (it's nightfall), and Kush asked him the sensible question about whether that was the time to bathe. Anyways, he went, and returned with another sack, which he opened to disclose a whole bunch of golden jewellery and other golden items. He told them that he accidentally dropped his sack in the lake, and the yaksha gave him another sack, but he insisted upon the original, whereupon the yaksha gave him both sacks. Seeing this, the eyes of the kids swelled with greed, and then, the baba suggested (for the first time) that they continue towards Kubera-lok, but they insisted that they all take a nap. As soon as they think the baba is asleep, they decide to go to the lake and try their luck. Since they had nothing else to drop into the lake, they decided to drop in their bows. When the yaksha (the same one as the one who asked them the 2 questions) appeared before them and they told them that they had lost their bows, the yaksha showed them 2 golden (instead of black) bows, and ask them whether it was theirs. Excited, they agreed, and so the yaksha gave them the golden bows, and as they left, he remarked that they were now caught in the pangs of greed. Failed test #2.

Comment: Although I recognize that K-L were human and not divine, I didn't like their character being defamed by the Sagars in this episode - not only did they contrive an accident for more riches (similar to some bedtime stories), but they downright lied to get golden bows. This defamation of K-L was totally uncalled for😡

The devas had alcohol, while the asuras/rakshashas were teetotlers (sort of, except for the fact that they were non-vegetarian). Take that!!!😛
