Lav and kush fights with durdant the ebst they can but the giant demon is no match for the boys. He destroys their arrows, blows air at them and distress them to the point of vulnerability.
They try to run away and he chases them. Finally he grips them with his hands and tries to swallow them.
Lav and kush again show their skill with arrows and narrowly miss being prayed .
They run away and hide behind a rock. Now they remember what malini told them. She had said :
If you are ever in trouble from which you cannot excape, pray to lord hanuman and he will rescue you.
So they start chanting hanuman's prayer.
Hanuman, who is meditating in far Ayodhya , hears the prayer of the helpless children. With lord Ram's name on his lips, he gets up and runs forward to help. Just as durdant was going to catch them again, Hanuman appears inside the cave.
The boys kneel to him and he blesses them, then he prepares to fight.
After a violent combat, Hanuman kills the demon .
He rescues them and takes them to a safe place airborne.
Then he and the boys have a little chat, and he gets to know their names. He advises them to stay away from rakshashas. Lav doesn't like it. So he says, always call up his aid while fighting them.
Lav and kush wants hanuman to go and meet their mother. But hanuman politely refuses. He says he will meet them some other time. Today he has to return to his lord.
