I really liked this DOTW. thanks for starting this. M busy now a days but will participate whenever I get some free time to do net.

There quite similarites between relationship n bonds. All relationships r someway bond esp those which r by virtue of birth n marriage. One cannot break this tie at his whimps n caprice at any moment. Even after death of one of the spouse this tie remains indissoluable for seven births. Marriage is bond because once one has entered in this relation one bound to respect it Divorce or dissolution of marriage or nullification was alien to hindus though one may get examples of separatation or abandonment but dissolution of tie of marriage through any process was alien to hindus. It is bond because one has to respect this bond once he/she has undergone the ceremonies of marriage with or without his/her free consent with someone ( now a day law gives opportunity to nullify forced marriage or marriage by fraud but in ancient days it was not so) .

Beautiful relationship

Ye to pata nahi because mai, tum, rupadi hum sab to unmarried hai yaar. All married members of RF family pls share ur POV
I agree with u the spouse shud give eachother some space n freedom n shud not impose on each other anything. If huband or wife is of bossy nature such relation will suffocate. Loved the lines which Lord Ram said abt marriage in yesterday's episode that there there shud be some freedom in this relationship but at the same time one cannot expect that his/her to be partner will be of same mentality or have same ideology. It depends on destiiny.

Marriage of a person will become suffocationg bond if partners r immature, immpratical or bossy or inconsiderate

Marriage will result into beautiful relationship if partners r mature, honest n give respect to each others POV. they be humble enough to realise their mistakes n learn from the partner

Whether marriage is a suffocating bond or beautiful relationship it totally depends upon the partners

Nice explaination Purvi👏 and add me to ur list 😉
What Ramji said to Ma Sita in yesterday's epi was indeed a very wonderful and a profound message.
You're right its upto the partners how to maintain their relationship.
Valmiki uses a highly suggestive language when it comes to explaining Sita-Ram's relationship with each other, he says they read each other's heart and mind very easily.
Which is very much evident in the agnipravesha episode, also the incident where Ram asks Sita to give the necklace of pearls (which he himself ties it around her neck) to anybody she wished ; this he says without Sita asking him. Sita just looks at him once and then she looks at the gathering of Vanars at the time of Rajyabhishek .

i agree with each and every point of purvi here
yes marriage means giving space to each other
otherwise it gets suffocating
but my view here is
in the kalyug
spouse fight over small issues
no one wants to come down
the ideal pair of ram sita i dont see
marriage is union of two souls two families and in this two ppl
and the point abt sita and ram talking silently was very nicely shown todays episode

Great thread, Sam1903.
Good points, so far by everyone 👏👏👏 Excellent explanaiton Purvi ji. ⭐️ Very well said that whether it becomes suffocating or not is in the hands of the partners - both of them. 👏👏👏
My opinions on this matter -
Marriage is both a beautiful relationship and a wonderful bond.
"The oak tree and the grow not in each other's shadow" - Often this saying of Kahlil Gibran is quoted in marriage invitaions and wedding cards. This is one of my favourite quote among all others he had written on marriage. The oak and cypress are both great and tall trees and need space to grow to their fullest heights. When put in each other's shadow their growth will be stunted - which is not good for both the trees.
I had wondered that if it was just the case of two people coming together and living together why so many elaborate rituals and ceremonies are observed to join the two hands on marriage. But each and every ritual has a significance. I saw a scene in the Tamil movie 'Kandhan Karunai' where Devayani (or Devasena) Lord Skanda's wife asks him certain doubts regarding marriage rituals. The best of it was Lord Skanda explaining that Lord Brahma gave a place for Goddess Saraswati in his tongue, Lord Vishnu in his heart and Lord Shiva gave Parvati Devi half of himself. The significance of this is that a man first gives his wife the freedom of speech and when he sees her wisdom he gives her a place in his heart and after seeing her love and compassion, he makes her half of himself.
Two people who were complete strangers have come together - it is up to them to benefit from them or not. They should share their lives but give space for each other so that they can have their own privacy. Sometimes, keeping a distacne will create a deeper bond and better understanding. The two of them should trust each other and be willing to accept the other as a part of (half of) their lives putting aside all other feelings of ego and pride. They must stand together and mandage so many things. If a person is able to share his life and bend down his/her pride and live together with his/her parter for long that person attains the maturity to handle difficult situations and guide the others away from their troubles. Also this experience is what that matters to give them the status of respectable ones and elders of the society. I think this is why the elders (especially the couples) are consulted for everything that happens in the house. Also, all the rituals and ceremonies to be performed are done with the parters. It is a way of telling the man or the wife that he/she is not complete without the other and they need their spouse to live complete life.
I hope I did not make it boring 😉

Hearing Lord Ram's explanations reminded me of Kahlil Gibran's writings on marriage. These lines are often quoted in wedding cards and invitaions.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.
You were born to be together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
These verses were too beautiful and I thought I can share it with you all.
