thanks rancho for other part
and regarding your confusion...
according to Ram Charit Manas by Tulsidasji she is not Parvati but Mata Sati...
and this is the root cause where Sati needs to Give herself and reborn as Parvati.
after encounter with Ramji
i could not recall whole story what happened exactly need to read that part again ....

Do u remember the tradition of mithila worshiping gauri( uma or parvati), here according to this story its sati, but gauri came lots of year after sati, how come this that sati visited ram in form of sita. gauri story is before this as this happened in aaranya kanda.
story in brief- as sati visited ram in form of sita , ram recognized sati and did pranama and called her mata, as shiv ji was Ram bhakt he at ones said to sati as Ram considered her mata he would never going to consider her his wife and so the parting between sati and lord shiv is bond to happen so dakha incident happen and sati did self cremation and thus she born as parvati again. and shiv parvati became one. correct me here if i am wroung as far as I remember this is the story.

Sati Devi was reborn as Parvati Devi. And Parvati Devi was the one who was present at that time. It is possible that Parvati Devi was referred to as Sati.

The reason I think this way is that in Ravan's Shiva Tandava Stotra, he mentions that Lord Shiva had killed the god of love. This happened when he shot an arrow at Lord Shiva at the request of the other Devas to hasten the marriage of Lord Shva and Devi Parvati. Lord Shiva burnt him to ashes and left the place. And Parvati Devi won his love by severe penances. In the same Shiva Tandava Stotra, he mentions Parvati Devi too (the daughter of the mountains).
If Ravan had known all this so long ago before the Lanka war, I think it was Parvati Devi who was present with Lord Shiva at that time.
Parvati Devi is often referred to as Sati.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
