I've always been a fan of Kumbhakaran, and actually have a playlist of his scheduled awakening (as opposed to the one during the war when Ravan wakes him) Really adorable rakshasha - too sad he had to die.

P.S. Anyone have a still picture of the Lakshman/Urmila parting scene before vanvaas? I have the video, but would appreciate a still picture of that conversation. Also, how does one make them into signature photos?

One thing about Kumbhakaran - after Brahma granted him his boon of 6 month sleeps, Ravan and Vibhishan carried him back to the palace, where they left him well taken care of. As a result, Kumbhakarna slept in a (presumably massive) palace, as was accurately depicted in the previous serial. But in this serial, they show him sleeping in the open at the same place that he had meditated. This is unlikely, because even if he had done that the first time he had slept, he would have got up 6 months later, and subsequently, he'd have returned home to sleep: after all, it's not like Kumbhakarna never slept prior to Brahma granting him those boons.

On Indrajit. The thing about Indrajit coming out so soon was that when he first came out in the original story, he used the Naag-paash against Rama and Lakshman and had them swoon - this was the episode where the rakshashas prematurely thought Rama & Lakshman were dead, but Garuda saved them.

In this serial, Indrajit comes out to battle, but is defeated by Rama, while Prahast kills Lakshman. In neither Valmiki nor Tulsidas was there ever any face to face battle between Rama and Indrajit - all the battles Indrajit fought were with Lakshman. Another factoid about Indrajit was that he was never defeated in battle - in his final confrontation with Lakshman when his yagna was disrupted, he was killed, but there was never an occasion when anybody - including Lakshman - could claim victory over Indrajit in which he was disarmed/defeated.

This was different from Ravan - after Rama and Lakshman had recovered from the Naag-paash and the Rakshashas lost some more of their generals, Ravan went out, and was humiliated in battle by Rama, which led to his waking up Kumbhakarna. But this sort of defeat never happened to Indrajit.

As a fan of Indrajit, I found that depiction jarring in an otherwise excellent serial.
